It's creepy being next to no man's land. Shabby abandoned buildings, heartbreaking if you think about the tragedies that took place here 42 years ago.
There was a guy with a machine gun making sure no one enters, we were not supposed to take pics but we took one anyway he didn't seem to care. He's probably done with curious tourists trying to peek behind the fence.
It's a beautiful beach, water is warm and there are no stones. Perfect for swimming. The sordid ugly fence and barbed wires just makes it more unique.

We booked a half day trip with Mr John to Famagusta.
Mr John is very passionate about where he once lived and tells the story with great passion and sorrow.
With this tour we stopped on 3 separate occasions once for lunch and a walk around the old town in Famagusta (lunch not included)
Mr John showed us where he used to live and go to school, his commentary was a little hard to follow at times though.
He drove us to places where other tours don't go, we drove right next to where the buildings stood empty surrounded by barbed wire and warnings not to enter. Taking photographs is also strictly forbidden.
This trip was a real insight into what happened in 1974, 42 years ago!!
Would definitely recommend.
The trip cost €20 for adults & €12 for children up to the age of 12.
This trip isn't suitable for children under the age of 10.

Traveled to Turkish side just for this, but when we finally got there, everything was guarded by army men, so you can only see just a small glimpse of ghost town, but I think its still worth it. Never seen anything like it in Europe.

Mr. John has a land in Famagusta. Not only he can share his own experience, but he can also take you to some part of Famagusta which red bus may not go. If you are looking for deeper insight of the Ghost Town, go with Mr John is a good choice and defiantly worth of value! It's sad to see such a big land got abandoned. Hopefully the political issue can resolve soon so people can go back to their home.
