A great cottage in a beautiful location. Well equipped and homely. We had a baby and two childten and it was a perfect home from home. The only down side was having to dispose of rubbish yourself due to the absence of refuse collection in the area. Other than that we had a lovely time there.

Thank you very much for your kind review of Muddy Cottage. I will mention the refuse collection in our listing, I hadn't thought to do that before. I hope it wasn't too much of a nuisance and that you found the recycle centre in Skibbereen ok.

“Fits all bills”
Reviewed 1 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We stayed in Muddy Cottage for the second time in Oct 2016.

Located 5 minutes walk from the village great views down over Glandore Harbour. The house itself is well fitted and furnished with anything you might need including an extensive collection of books and games for days in and info about what to explore in the area in the days out. A lovely spot to sit around the fire on a cold evening and extend a long loosing streak in Scrabble. We were two + a child, but would easily accommodate 6. Wifi is good, DVDs and Sat tv available (our toddler discovered “carchoons" while we were there) and can wash/dry clothes which is handy for little people with a love of mud.

The village of Union hall has a number of bars that do good food and a good shop for stocking up food and fuel. Its close enough to walk down for a long lunch (very important for us!) Bigger supermarkets in Skibb have anything else you need.

Out and about there are some road walks from the door and beaches and Coillte sites close by. We found it a great base for exploring West Cork and the south section of the Wild Atlantic Way. We made it out most days: as far as Mizen Head, Sheeps head and even the Beara Peninsula (Garnish Island and the hills around Glengarriff are certainly worth a visit). Baltimore is within 20 minutes where you can catch a ferry to Sherkin and Cape Clear islands and go whale watching.

No hesitations in recommending to others.

I don't think I can add anything to previous reviews for this property. It is exactly as described and the reviews are accurate. We enjoyed our stay, loved the cottage and it is ideally located for touring West Cork. It is very well equipped and does feel like a family home not the usual rental. Communication with the owners through both email and txt was efficient. The pack we received on final payment was informative and useful. Would recommend this property and would return again.

“Muddy Cottage is absolute perfection for a relaxing holiday”
Reviewed 22 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Muddy Cottage is beautiful inside and out. The cottage is well equipped, the owners have gone to a lot of trouble to provide everything for a perfect stay, wonderful bed linen, was always warm and cosy, lovely open fires. Would be a great retreat for a large group of friends. Union Hall itself is a lovely village and the shops, restaraunts and pubs are very welcoming and the food was excellent. It is in a good position for exploring West cork it being very close to Skibbereen,Balmore, Castletownshend and Clonakilty to name a few, but easy to get back to the cottage to relax after a busy day. We had a wonderful relaxing holiday and would love to return.

“Idyllic”

The Muddy Cottage is a perfect getaway to escape the rush of modern life, surrounded by stunning vistas and lovely walks. The house itself is perfect, the kitchen is well equipped with everything we needed, and we were really pleased to find materials for building a fire were there when we arrived. The master bedroom was very comfortable and very bright and airy, with great views down to the river beyond Union Hall. The lounge / dining room towards the back of the house was by far our favourite place to relax with a good book, and also eat whilst looking at the amazing views from the bay.

The grounds are lovely with great spaces for sitting out, and the deck on a sunny evening is a lovely place to relax with a glass or two something nice.

The town if lovely and friendly with a really good general store where we could find everything we needed and Dintys Bar and Restaurant provided some excellent meals and good pints of Murphys! If you go to Dintys, you have to make sure you try the crab claws starter as they are utterly amazing.

Overall I can't recommend The Muddy Cottage enough and can't wait to get back there again.
