I can only praise Andrea & Joanna for the house we rented. A great deal of thought must have gone into the property as everything had been provided for our stay.
What a location, right in the heart of the beautiful medieval walled city of Mdina.
Nothing was too much trouble for Andrea and Joanna, even finding a taxi service to transport us to and from the airport.
We had a wonderful stay in this property, and would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone.
We look forward to visiting again.
Thanks to Andrea and Joanna everything went smoothly, from our first initial booking enquiry, to our last day where our cases were stored by Joanna and Joseph (we had a next day 2.30 am flight).
All our pre-holiday email questions were answered quickly and thoroughly; for example, we were concerned about where we would park our hire car when at the property, and so emailed Andrea asking him. He immediately replied and asked us to park outside Mdina on arrival and then to give Joanna our rental car registration, which we did. She then arranged a parking permit, which allowed us to park inside the Mdina itself or in the small car park just outside the Greeks Gate, which was for Mdina residents only. We found this system worked very well as we were always able to park near the property.
Joanna is very considerate and thoughtful, and it was made clear to us on arrival that if we had any problems to contact her immediately, she sent a couple of text messages during our stay asking if we needed anything, she also brought strawberries one morning and asked if we required our linen changing. Joanna is a lovely host who was warm and informative, we are interested in the history of Malta, and although we have visited Malta a few times before, Joanna fascinated us with stories about the history of Malta of which we had no idea. There was an extensive welcome pack on arrival, as well as a well-stocked store cupboard of salt, pepper, sugar etc. all of which were very welcome, and useful.
The house itself is perfectly positioned in Mdina; it is near St Paul’s square, but at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and therefore very peaceful. There is a rooftop terrace with 360-degree view over the rooftops of Mdina to the countryside beyond. From the terrace is a wonderful view of St Paul’s Cathedral, and the Carmelite Priory. We spent several evenings on that terrace drinking wine and watching the sun go down. There are a total of 4 outside spaces, which are - a small courtyard, 1 large balcony area and 2 terraces, so it is always possible to find the perfect place to sit/eat/drink/rest outside. Inside, it is a stunning old property with wooden beams, winding staircases made of stone, and stone walls. Nevertheless, it has all necessary modern conveniences; I found having a washing machine a huge benefit especially as washing dries so quickly in the Maltese sunshine. The showers are hot, and powerful, and I must mention the comfy bed in the top floor room. Although this was our first stay at Agatina’s it won’t be our last, we would love to visit the property again, but next time bring our daughter.
The house offers a rare opportunity to stay within the historic walled city of Mdina. The hosts were very hospitable, more than happy to provide local knowledge. The house is very comfortable and full of character; the various terraces, with views over Mdina, were a particular highlight. There are plenty of good restaurants in Mdina, but if you want to cook for yourself, it is best to find a supermarket en route to Mdina and stock up in advance.
Some friends and I made a weekend trip to Malta, and couldn't have been happier with this place! This host was especially helpful and welcoming. She provided information for transportation around the island and other interesting location to see during our stay. The house itself was gorgeous, and its location cannot be beat. We enjoyed walking around the narrow streets, and taking in the sites of the town. The rooms were clean and neat, everything was spacious, and made a great home-base for our adventures around the island. My favorite part of the house by far is the roof that gives an incredibly panoramic view of the city, and should absolutely be taken advantage of. I could not recommend this house enough, and look forward to returning.

Went to Malta for a long weekend with a group of friends and stayed at Joanne's in Mdina. I could have not picked a more perfect place! First of all, Joanne was a great host. She was responsive to any requests during our time there and met us with a bottle of local wine upon arrival even though it was late in the evening. Next, the house was awesome. The size made it nice for a bit of privacy yet was comfortable for our group of six. The rooftop overlooking Mdina was perfect for a morning coffee. The location was also amazing. It was convenient for traveling around the country over the weekend and it was lovely to wake up in such a beautiful town. I would recommend this home to anyone and would love to stay there again when returning to Malta.
