Description: Inspiring traditional Icelandic cuisine. We take the good old traditional recipes and the best Icelandic ingredients to create fun and tasty food. Let tradition surprise you! We go to great lengths to find Icelandic cookbooks and other written material that may contain recipes we can use in new and inventive ways. Everything on our menu is homemade with first class produce.

We went on a recommendation from an Icelandic fine dining chef. It did not disappoint, with an excellent Icelandic set menu with lamb as the highlight. Located in a old fish cannery it still held an industrial feel. Is located a little off the main drag in Reykavik but worth seeking out. The service was great but not meant to be "fine dining" style so a good place to go for an entree or even a quicker meal.

Excellent restaurant and very tasty food. Not a huge menu but everything we ordered was great. Prices were a bit on the expensive side. Perfect for special occasions.

Matur og Drykkur (which means "food and drink" in Icelandic) is a first class restaurant. It's in the same building as the Saga Museum, so it's a natural to eat there after visiting the museum. But bear in mind that the museum is a quicker run-through than most major museums, and it closes at 18:00, the same time as the restaurant opens. So plan your time accordingly.

I had the three course Icelandic dinner, which had lamb as the second course today; it was perfectly cooked and imaginatively plated. My wife's dinner, cod off the a la carte menu, was also perfect.

We thoroughly enjoyed this dining experience, and we recommend it to everyone with no hesitation.

Over rated!! Food really salty and not tasty and wine measured randomly some 1/5 of a glass and to others half a glass!! Waitress inexperience! Pretentious!

We had a family friend recommend this restaurant very highly.. so our entire group was very excited to try the food. However, the service was extremely disappointing and the food was average at best. There were so many other great restaurants in Reykjavik; I would not recommend this place. Also, when mentioning service quality to staff, they did not seem to care in the least.
