Description: Chef Johann Helgi Johannsson and his wife Ragnheidur Helen Edvardsdottir own and manage Resto. Johann has built up a great reputation for quality cooking in other restaurants in Reykjavik so they decided to follow their dreams and open their own restaurant. The atmosphere is friendly and there is much effort put into the food.

Fish soup appetizer and ling and langoustine and ling entree excellent. Scallops appetizer and lamb entree good. Entree portions are very generous and you could easily share one appetizer instead of ordering two and skip dessert, especially since bread is provided too. Tables are divided between two rooms separated by entrance hall, keeping noise down. Charming decor. Good service. Reservations needed.

Resto does not appear at first glance to be much of a restaurant and the table settings are very simple. However, don’t judge this book by its cover – the service is very cordial, the dining room is quiet, and the food is excellent even if the menu is very limited. The appetizer of tiny scallops in curry sauce was delicious. Our two main dishes were both superb (baked Ling, which is a white fish, with a langusta sauce and roasted vegetables and a lamb fillet with a red wine sauce containing lingonberries, red cabbage, and barley along with roasted vegetables). My wife and I could not decide which was the more delicious. We did not have any dessert because we were full by the end of the main courses. The wine selection is similarly limited but good and the per glass serving is a welcomed 185 ml. Reservations recommended.

We had the lamb, cod and link fish all four meals where great. My husband had the salmon tartare appetizer which was great as well. Meals with wine 25000 isk but our best meal so far in island. Great ambiance as well. Would totally recommend the place for a nice dinner!

Walking distance from our hotel. Good food, pleasant staff, Definitely recommended !!! Great fish dishes, delicious free range lamb, a little pricey but everything in Rekjavik is pricey.
