Description: Le Bistro is a small authentic French bistro and wine bar on Laugavegur, Reykjavik's main shopping street. Serving moderately-priced (for Iceland), classic and contemporary French food along with a great selection of wine and beer. As you step into this casual, lively and bohemic place, the French atmosphere is unavoidable. We serve slow food, with mostly local Icelandic ingredients. This is likely the only the place in the centre with a walk in policy, so you will probably only have to wait a few minutes for a table. Groups of six and more are welcome to book ahead. Bienvenue et bon appetit...

We stopped in this place for brunch around 10:30. It was very packed and we were lucky to get a seat. There were some seats outside on the street which looked really cute. The prices were very reasonable. I had a croissant which came with butter and jam. I also had a fruit juice. There were also larger “meal” style options. There wasn’t any cake which we had expected there to be. The inside décor was very flamboyant. It really gave it a quirky feel, with loads to look at and take in. The staff were very pleasant too.

When you've been out in the cold all day there is no better feeling than sitting in Le Bistro with a hot stew and a good bottle of wine watching the world go by.

We were first tempted to try this restaurant when we read the menu and saw their 'assortment of casseroles'. It was really busy and a bit of a squeeze but such a friendly, warm atmosphere. We felt so comfortable and the food was amazing.

The assortment of casserole was fab as it allowed us to try a mini pot of each of them with as much delicious bread as we wanted.

The service was fantastic with very attentive staff who knew when you needed therm and were not constantly bothering you.

We enjoyed it so much we came back again so we could try more of the food.

Great value, would definitely recommend.

This cozy small restaurant was an incidental walk in when we discovered our first choice was fully booked. No regrets! This restaurant featured a very unique combination of French-Icelandic fusion which was simply new to the palate. The servings were huge! We tried the lamb, rib eye and salted cod. They also had more traditional Icelandic fare for the more adventurous gormet. This place fills up fast.

We stopped into Le Bistro for a drink and felt right at home. They have a few nice beers we wanted to have and some glasses of wine. They don't really have a bar but they welcomed us in and sat us at a table even though we were just drinking. The feeling inside the restaurant was really like being at home and made the trip to this location so very nice. I would certainly recommend coming in for just a drink or a meal.

We had just come from the Blue Lagoon and had checked in at our hotel and we decided to head out for a short walk downtown for lunch. We found this bistro tucked away on a side street. It was warm and cozy, the wait staff was attentive and we were served in a timely manner. I had the quiche w/side salad, delicious. My friend, Sue, had a lamb cassoulet. It is a small place and seating is tight.
