Description: An Icelandic tradition since 1958. Mokka is one of Reykjavik's oldest cafés and the first to install an espresso machine and serve espresso, cappuccino, and café latte in Iceland. There's a tempting selection of sandwitches, cakes, and the coffee and hot chocolate are excllent with their famous house waffles, served with cream and jam. The déckor - red carpet, leatherette booths and stools - hasn't changed much althought the art on the walls is changed every 4-6 weeks as the café has doubled as an Art gallery with new art for sale since opening.

Coffee in hotels and restaurants underwhelming so asked trip advisor and this place came up. Very cosy and dark inside, lovely friendly staff and best of all great tasting coffee. There are sand which menu and a selection of cakes, the Icelandic donught is very nice and needed to fight the cold.

My family and I stopped into Mokka after hearing from our food tour guide (through Wake Up Reykjavik, highly recommend) that it was the first ever coffeeshop in Iceland! We stopped in during the late morning and got coffees, waffles, and a baked marzipan. All were delicious and were a great way to start our morning exploring the city!

Popped into this cafe after a suggestion from our tour guide. We liked it so much we went twice during our stay. The first time we just popped in for a panini which was nice but while we were there saw some people eating the most delicious looking waffles and so went back to have those. Definitely worth it. I think this place is renowned for its waffles so would definitely recommend coming here. The Swiss mocha and hot chocolate were good too!

This place took a bit of finding, but it was worth it.
It's a great little place, from what we could see, there was quite a few locals in there, it's a proper coffee shop, nothing too flash but good atmosphere. The coffee was so good, I wish we had time to try the very yummy looking cakes and waffles but we had just eaten.

Great coffee and such a great setting - has a real old school feeling and no frills. The cakes were so delicious.
