Stayed here the night when we were in Reykjavik. It has a great atmosphere and is in a great location. Right in the marina overlooking the boats and water. Staff was nice and the bar/café was very pleasant.

The service provided by the staff at the front desk was fantastic. They answered all of our questions, confirmed tour reservations and helped us check-in for our flight home. They could not have been better. The food in the restaurant was also very good and the prices were less than in the local area restaurants- try the Turkish Pepper after dinner drink. The gym was serviceable-you don't need more as you get plenty of exercise during the tours. The room size was fine- didn't need a big room as again, we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. My only suggestion is to stay in a room on the water side and not the road side as there is a lot of road noise. The hotel did provide earplugs. We would stay there again.

Good:

* nicely decorated
* extremely comfortable
* welcoming staff
* good location
* bus stop for tour pickups located outside (some guides will meet you in the lobby)

Bad:

* cleaning service left our room door standing open during the day
* loud party on the ground floor made it impossible to sleep in our first floor room
* very little privacy between bathroom and bedroom
* wetroom-style bathroom might not suit everyone
* harbour and construction work(ers) outside meant we had to keep our curtains/blinds drawn

Recommendations for other travellers:

* ask for a harbour-facing room at the time of booking
* book a room on the 2nd floor or higher
* store all valuable items in the room safe

Room Tip: 2nd floor or above, harbour-facing, away from the elevator - or book a suite

The single rooms are claustrophobic and the rooms facing the road are noisy. Only book if you can get a room facing the harbor and on the top floor (4). Common rooms and bar are great. Service is spotty at best— my room was s9metimes cleaned, sometimes not. No accommodation from the hotel was made for this.

Dear 32655Laura,

Thank you for staying with us and for sharing your review. In regards to the size of the room, we have different categories of rooms and of course their sizes may vary according to their respective types. Of course, if you let us know at the reception that you wanted to have a Marina view room, we will be happy to assist you. The thing is single room is not 100 percent guarantee marina view, because of this,we acknowledge our guest to let us know or send us a a request for marina view if they wish to avail it.
On the other hand, I´m not quite sure if your right in regards to your cleaning service comment as our maids do clean all stay over rooms everyday. We would really appreciate if you stop by at the reception and mention this to us, for us to be given a chance to fix this as this matter is fixable, it is just a matter of communication. Lastly, we hope that you can give us another chance and hope to see you again.

Best regards

Great hotel and would agree with all the other positive reviews but for us the real positive was it was 5 mins walk out of town which meant a very quiet nights sleep. The marina is a fully working marina and they start up about 7.30am but that’s no problem as you’re up and moving by then ready for sight seeing.We hired a car on the day from BLUE CARS a 10 min walk across the marina and found on the way a piece of land right by the hotel where you could park the car free of charge overnight . Because you’re slightly out of town you have none of the hassle of town traffic ...you nip straight off the roundabout, park the car , walk a few minutes to the lovely hotel, drop your stuff off and then a 5 min stroll into the very busy town/restaurant area. The cafes and fish and chip shops around the hotel are considerably better value than the town.. town is eye watering prices !!!...would recommend this hotel to everyone business/ holiday whatever you’re doing .
