Description: Icelandic traditional food Cafe Loki offer Icelandic meat soup, Icelandic sample plates, homemade bread and cakes. Icelandic traditional homemade dishes are our specialty. You can taste fermented shark and dried fish but Icelandic meat soup and our Icelandic plates are most popular among the Rye Ice cream and Skyr cake. Beautiful view over Reykjavik, Hallgrimskirkja church and to mountain Blafjoll. Icelandic food.

We went to Cafe Loki based on the recommendation of our tour guide. She was a local and worked there while in university because the food reminded her of her mom's cooking. The restaurant has two floors of seating, can accommodate children, and would be good for families. We ordered the Icelandic Plate (included the hakarl, or shark, but I didn't try), Mashed Fish (Plokkfiskur), and the Rye Bread with smoked trout and cottage cheese. All were good.

I haven't had the pleasure of trying this cafe's savory menu but I can tell you their rye bread ice-cream is amazing! It sounds a little odd but I promise it is delicious. It is in the realm of cookies and cream ice cream but sooo much better!

The food seemed extremely overpriced here, but it was a convenient location to get our day started. Nearby parking was free. The food was fine but I’m sure you could find better options by walking around a bit more.

Loki was parent of our walking tour.
We were treated to rye bread ice cream...ok I know it doesn’t sound appetizing, but it was surprisingly good.
Certainly worth a try, something to talk about

Great sampling of traditional dishes with a view of Hallgrímskirkja. Service was on par with the charm and attention we came to expect in Iceland.
