I visited an reviewed Baron a while ago, but came back with my wife for dinner on another visit to Karlstad. Turns out it moved a few blocks in February 2018, without Tripadvisor being updated yet. It's now at Stora Torget.
The move seems to have done a world of good! My last visit, I thought it was very good, now it has become truly excellent! The previous location didn't offer much extra in the way of atmosphere, but the current location, in an old (19th century) cavernous bank foyer adds quite a new level of prestige to it. Tables made out of thick cross section slabs of trees are also a nice touch. This makes for an informal atmosphere, yet still with a touch of grandeur.
The food has also been ramped up a notch. The menu is more or less the same, offering a range of tapas dishes that dare to stray away from the traditional. The Spanish tapas flair is definitely there, but the mix of tastes and inspiration from different cuisines was playful. Every dish proved its own explosion of taste, quite diverse and always well balanced. I regret only that I couldn't try it all.
Service was reasonably prompt, professional, friendly and rather informal in style
I would recommend this for just about everyone. While it's not the cheapest of places the price is quite reasonable for the quality. This is among the best tapas I've had in Scandinavia.
