We took a risk in booking to stay at TOP Hotel Leda as there was no Trip Advisor review on the place. This was a mistake. We relied upon the hotel's website, which turned out to be inaccurate and misleading.

The hotel is in a shabby, run-down district. Its double-glazing was unable to stop the noise from the builder's yard next door or the supermarket loading bay opposite. The nearby rail station does not provide through access to either the city centre or the airport without changing. Buses stop nearby and are very frequent and cheap.

The hotel's website states that it is suitable for people with disabilities, but access to the entrance is up four steep steps with no handrail, and there are other steps throughout the hotel. There is a lift, but guests are not allowed to use it at night.

The hotel was converted a few years ago from a derelict factory, and its industrial origin is very evident. Since then it does not appear to have had any redecoration and is badly in need of it. Our room and the corridors were dusty. The venetian blinds were damaged and the curtains were cheap, thin and too small. We had been there two days before we were supplied with soap. Although fresh towels were provided when needed, the bedlinen was not changed in five days. There is no air conditioning, and the only means of ventilation on what was stifling weather was by opening the windows onto the noise of the street.

The "antique" furniture was mainly damaged and tatty and the wardrobe was like a small larder unit. The "bathroom" was very small and it was difficult to use the shower without falling over the toilet. Strangely, there was no plug in the wash basin.

The breakfast was meagre in choice and quality. The breakfast area was cramped. The staff were friendly enough and reception staff did speak English. We left the hotel two days earlier than planned as we could no longer tolerate it. We would not recommend this hotel to any other visitors if any other accommodation in Copengagen was available.
