I've just returned from 2 weeks staying at this Villa with my partner, her son and daughter in law. The villa is lovely, there is everthing you need including a washing machine in an outside building and a very nice BBQ. The veranda is a focal point of the villa, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner on it and spent our evenings playing games or chatting as the sun went down and the stars came out - beautiful. There are very few houses close so there was next to no noise intrusion from other people. There is a small road at the front of the property running along by the sea but this road isn't used much and again there is no noise intrusion. Its hard to see on the map but the sea is literally at the end of the drive and across the very narrow quiet road. The view from the veranda across the sea to the uninhabited island of Peristera is stunning - I can recommened an early morning cup of tea just sitting in silence staring it's a whole other world.
The owners are lovely, they clean the villa every 3 days which is plenty and are on hand to help if there are any problems not insignificantly it is also great value for money.
Alonissos is a lovely island. We were there at the start of the season so it was very quiet but as it's a 2 hour ferry journey from Skiathos I get the feeling it doesn't get too busy anyway. I can recommeneded it if you like hiking, its very green with lots of trees for shade. The beaches are beautiful and in the main very clean and very quiet. When we went snorkelling we were often the only people on the beach. We also went sea kayaking which we would recomend.
Agios Dimitiros beach is lovely and you can walk to it from the villa. There are a few tavernas there. Steni Valla is very pretty and has the nearest supermaket. You will need a car to get to it, in fact you will need a car on this holiday, we used crossroads rental who were very good. Steni Vala also has some nice resturants and is a great place for a coffee or beer and cake after a long walk.
The main town/port of Patitiri is ok. At the moment they are building a new port so there seemed to be a never ending line of large lorries in and out. Fine to visit to stock up on stuff from the supermarkets or bakeries and ok for a coffee on the sea front but I wouldn't particulalry want to stay in the centre however that is just my impression from a few visits over the two weeks we were there.
Other things i would recommend - the gorge walk which you can do from the villa, the summit walk and then down to Gerakas for a snorkel and the two churches walk. The Old Town is also nice for a visit - it's small so you couldn't spend all day there.
All in all I would recommend Alonissos as a lovely greek island to visit and if you are going there I recommend using Villa Oceanis.
