In our opinion, staying at Orestias Kastorias was a great deal.
To start off: even though the hotel is rated as 2 stars, it was spotlessly clean and had great amenities, including a 24h reception service. We were often offered as well free coffee/tea and biscuits, which was sometimes perfect for us before heading out for a proper breakfast/brunch.
The room size is probably something that people complain about, but at least our room appeared very spacious due to its high ceilings, making the little space feel much more open and comfortable. Obviously, if you are looking for huge rooms and lots of empty space, than this is probably not the hotel for you.
Especially the location was perfect: walking distance to the city center, just across a supermarket, with close by restaurants, ATM, pastry shops, coffee shops, shisha bar and between 2 historical places (Roman Agora and Church of Agios Dimitrios).
In addition, we were lucky enough to have a view over the Roman Agora (Forum), which was a nice – historical - start to our time in Thessaloniki.
We definitely can recommend the hotel, but for sure it might not be good for all (especially if you like to stay in more upper scale lodgings).More
