Well, one can understand that on the National Day (25 March) an attraction can be closed. Internet and the sign at the entrance ensured us this was not the case, though. It was therefore a big surprise to find it closed all the same. Museum staff and webmaster: please stick to what your direction announces. This is bad!
I had been there before and the small museum has some beautiful things to see, I have to state.

This is a rather small museum, which I liked as it doesn't contain an overwhelming amount of objects. One hour is more than enough of time if you aren't exceptional interested. Unfortunately it has an old-fashioned approach to its visitors. Long texts at the walls gives the information. It would have been more interesting to get shorter pieces of information in connection with the objects, to get an idea of how they were used.

There are plenty artifact from the history of the region. All items have been labeled in different languages. Additionally there are many explanations about the social and political history of the region. I have loved "golden oil leaves crown"

Entrance was 4 euro. The lady at the reception was very friendly. Overall a small museum. Parking just next to the museum, 2 euro.

After a day of viewing the aqueduct and the Ottoman Era castle nearby, I found the Archaeological Museum to be a magnificent capstone on my tour of Kavala! With plentiful artifacts from Kavala itself and the surrounding region. I found this place to be really exciting as someone who went to Greece to experience and learn about the history of the antiquity of the region.
