“Gem of a property set in peaceful olive groves with views of the hills”
Reviewed 18 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We had a fantastic week staying in Villa Irene. The property was immaculate and well equipped. The beds were very comfortable. The owners were super-helpful, providing lists of recommended restaurants, and a complementary basket of local produce was wating for us when we arrived. We could not have asked for it to have been in a lovelier setting - rolling hills and olive trees and spring flowers. Being quite central, it was well located for exploring both the south and north end of the island (Gerakas beach in the south highly recommended, also Xigia beach on the north west coast for snorkelling), and it was only a 20 minute drive from Zakynthos town centre, and its various supermarkets. The housekeeper was very welcoming. When we arrived she took us to the property and then came to change the towels and beds part way through the week, at a time that suited us. The local bakery was convenient for bread, baklavas and homemade mini ice creams which we stopped in for daily on our way back from the beach. The house is surrounded by a large paved terrace with different areas to sit, in sun or shade depending on the time of day. Beyond the terrace is a garden of olive, orange and lemon trees and a tree house, which the children enjoyed. There were two bicycles, which were put to good use by our son. All in all a very relaxing week in a lovely property. Needless to say we intend to come back!
