Its not yet commercialised so nowhere to change, eat or have a pee, no sunbeds, no shade - but if you just want turquoise warm seas and a lovely picturesque beach - its Myrtos. We LOVED it!

Had to see this beach as it is very much spoken of. Especially, since the film Captain Corelli's Mandolin.

The view from the viewing points at the top are spectacular and it was a compulsion for me to take the ride down to the bottom and walk or paddle on this beach. When I arrived at the beach instead of beautiful sands it was intact very fine shingle.

Getting into the water was fine but when I tried to get out my feet sunk into the shingle and trapped my foot which made it difficult to get out without resorting to a very undignified crawl on all fours. The water seemed not to want me to leave.

All in all the illusion I saw from reviewing point at the top was disappointing on the ground so to speak.

Better to see from above and enjoy the view.

Myrtos Beach is a must see when visiting Kefalonia. We were lucky to spend the day on a private 4x4 tour island tour and stopped at both sides of the beach to capture the views. It’s just stunning. We drove down the road to have a walk on the beach. The beach is not sandy, it’s small pebbles so it can be quite uncomfortable on your feet. Only problem for us is that there is no shade, you have to take your own beach brolley and if you are visiting for the day, you would have to purchase one. The only facilities are toilets however there are a number of tavernas and shops at the top of the hill. Again, another must see if you are visiting the island.

One of the top 10 beaches. Amazing beach and clear water... the view from above and in the water looking back to the beach is fantastic. In June we had to take our own umbrellas.

A ''postcard'' vista greets you when you first turn up and after a long-ish drop down the hairpins you arrive at the Car Park which was ok for when we were there but I'd guess gets full up peak season.

Mostly Limestone coarse sand / shingle / stones there's a cave worth looking at to the southern end which you can walk /swim under.

NO facilities to eat [ they are back up the beach access road about 3/4 mile climb away ] but there are Loo's in a block on the beach itself.

No loungers or Umbrellas etc. Its simply a beach and the 'drop off' means the 'tots' might need a close eye on.
