A wonderful villa with great views and a lovely secluded garden, complete with outdoor pizza oven and friendly local cats :) Everything we were looking for - great for couples needing a peaceful break!
Anapolis is a great village - close enough to larger town like Heraklion, and other places of interest, but remote enough to feel secluded and quiet.
We'd recommend renting a car if you do stay here - as there isn't much in the way of public transport. October was a great month to visit, the weather was still warm, but the island wasn't overrun with tourists!
This is a verry complete Home. It is comfortable and verry cosy furnished. The house is situated in a mountain village, 10 minutes from the cost. It has a tropical garden and 3 balconies. Shake hands witch the villagepeople and say Calimera. They like it and a choir of men say Calimero to you. Very worthwile to come back again.
A very lovely stay in Villa Fabrica - a beautiful property in a small village about 2 or 3 miles from the sea. The booking process went very smoothly. Manolis met us on his moped to show us the way to the villa. Communication was excellent throughout and Manolis gave us an introductory tour of the property and some tips for places to visit and restaurants to try before leaving us, with welcome gift of both wine and raki, to enjoy his house.
The house itself is beautiful - tasteful, homely and very well-equipped. For the two of us it was perfect - very spacious with a sunny patio downstairs (with table and BBQ) and a further upstairs patio. There is a double bedroom with AC if needed and an ensuite bathroom plus two further single beds in a sizeable area which can be curtained off (this certainly makes the villa suitable for a family with two kids but it might not be ideal for two couples - depending on what you are after).
The village was very peaceful and we much enjoyed an opportunity to get away from it all and to be off the beaten track whilst being only 20-30 minutes from Heraklion and the airport. There is a local shop for basics and the supermarket is only 15 minutes or so away. You definitely need a car, mind you - and the very narrow lanes through the village were a little unnerving at first, but we soon got used to it.
All in all - a truly lovely stay - one we very much hope to repeat.
