I was attracted to this place in light of its location, the photos but most of all the wonderful all-round comments. Well, all are true. Crete is a must, Chania is aboslutely enchanting, the location of the hotel could not be more ideal, the accommodation and related equipment was comfortable and peaceful, the owners, Eleftheria and Mr Petros, were extremely helpful and hospitable. Could not have asked for anything more for a wonderful holiday. Would gladly stay there again and would strongly recommend Palazzo di Pietro.

The key to what makes this pension so special is the owner, Eleutheria, who makes guests feel as if they are visiting in her own home. She knows a great deal about Chania, so guests know all the important sights. And her rooftop garden, filled with flowers and a shady bower for a quick snack, adds to the charm.

We stayed in a single room in an old Venetian building around the corner from the main space. The room was very spacious, with a lovely, white-curtained bed, a small kitchenette, a table and chairs, and an updated bathroom. There was a bottle of wine from the family's vineyard, a bottle of Eleutheria's grandfather's raki, a bottle of olive oil from the family presses--all for free. The fridge was filled with cold drinks--again, gratis. Each day the maid left a little treat: cookies, candy, a little paper boat with Greek flag and a goodbye note. The service couldn't have been more personal.

The location is fabulous--a block from the harbor with its many restaurants, famous mosque, and charming shops. Finding the hotel can be a challenge, so be sure to download the map before you arrive. It's impossible to drive to the hotel, as the streets are closed to traffic, and parking in the town can be maddening.

This pension is very small with a limited number of rooms, and all of the rooms require walking up stairs; the lovely roof garden is up about 5 flights of stairs. Our room was one flight up. Eleutheria helped us with the luggage, but if stairs cause you problems, then, sadly, this isn't the place for you. For those who don't mind a bit of a climb in order to stay in a charming, comfortable, hospitable place, this is definitely for you!

Room Tip: You can stay in the main building, but I didn't see those rooms. The room around the corner is spacious and lovely.

excellent location and space. It is beautifully decorated and everything is perfect. Eleutheria goes out of her way to make sure that you are right at home. We will return here to visit. It is magical... Our favorite place of a three-week visit to Greece.

We started our Greek island adventure at the very beautiful Chania and Palazzo di Pietro. Eleutheria ensured that our first impression of the Greek people was a very good one. They are so friendly, generous and hospitable. If you would like to have an authentic Greek experience then stay at Palazzo di Pietro. The rooms are cosy and comfortable and it is lovely to sit on the balcony and enjoy a glass of wine in the sunshine. Eleutheria and her family looked after us and recommended lots of good places to eat and visit in Chania.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a balcony to enjoy an afternoon sipping Cretan wine in the sunshine!

This is a very special place. Eleutheria and her family have renovated their beautiful ancient Venetian home with elegance and artistic taste. The room we had was delightful and comfortable with a welcome of wine from the family vineyard, raki and a basket of fresh fruit. When we return to Xania we will stay again and again. Wonderful!
