The food and the live music were great!
Moussaka, lamb and salad were wonderful.
Perfect evening. We’ll come back again.

My colleague and I wanted to dine with a traditional Greek music experience on our last night in Athens. A local tour guide suggested this place, so we thought it would be a good spot. Sadly, it was disappointing.

Although plenty of seats were empty, the host wanted to seat us in the back. We asked for a table near the music and were seated at one right in front. The waiter did not wait for our drink order before he delivered a bottle of water, opened it, poured our glasses, and left. The bottle made no noise when it was opened, so for all we know, the waiters could use the same bottles and refill them at the kitchen tap. When the bill came, we discovered that this was automatic, whether the guests request bottled water or not, to drive up the bill.

Then the waiter brought a basket of bread and a dip, which we also did not order, and we thought it was included in the dinner. When the bill came, the bread was an added purchase that we received although we did not order it. Had we known ahead of time, we definitely would NOT have ordered the bread and may have ordered other beverages instead of the tap water.

The food was only decent, the service was slow and EXTREMELY inattentive, but the live music was fabulous: upbeat, traditional Greek, and skillfully performed. When the bill came, we were surprised by the added bread costs (which we would not have ordered) and the water (which we might or might not have ordered.) This tremendously soured the experience and left us questioning the integrity and honesty of any restaurant that automatically brings food without asking the customers first, and then demands payment for those unordered items.

Seriously, this review has two stars instead of one only because the musicians played so brilliantly. We will NEVER return to this restaurant because of its questionable business practices. IF you choose to dine here, be sure to tell them immediately if you do NOT want to pay for the water and bread, consume ONLY what you truly want, and scrutinize the bill like an auditor.

This place has been around since 1882 and is one of the places that offer live music so that's the reason we walked in here. The food and the wine is ok but not spectacular but the ambiance here is just fantastic. The two man band was playing traditional Greek music ( only one I recognized was Zorba's dance) but the locals totally enjoyed it and were dancing a lot. One of those things you got to experience when in Greece.

A very friendly lady explains the menu at the entrance and convinced us to walk in but the waiters are not friendly at all. We were given a table at a corner even though the other tables were still free. But no problem. Our drinks came after we got our food and asked the waiter twice. But still no problem. The food wasn't great e.g. We love Tzatziki but the one we've had here was sour.
....Long story short. We haven't had a good experience here. You can give it a try though.

Got there by the sound of music. been looking for some folkloric Greek music.
the food is OK nothing special .. but the ambiance and the all atmosphere made it magical with candles on tables . the service was a bit slow but all the tables were occupied ... lots of people on Saturday night. enjoyed the music very much !
