“Amazing house and host in the shadow of the Akropolis!”
Reviewed 20 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

My wife and 4 kids stayed in this lovely house for 3 nights as the capper to a Greek vacation. Aris met us upon arrival and gave us not only a detailed orientation to his beautiful home, but also an extremely helpful brief walking tour of the surrounding area.
Go to his recommended restaurants! - the fish and meat places on the local walk street - not touristy at all - were excellent - especially the fish place - one of the top meals we had in Greece. And the location of the house is fantastic - so central to the Akropolis. We had a wonderful experience.

“Amazing Stay and Host!”
Reviewed 5 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Everything all the other reviews say about Griffin House and Aris are true. We were picked up at the airport by Spiros, arranged by Aris, which was a terrific start. Then, being met at the house by Aris and shown every detail of the house and the neighborhood made us immediately feel at home. Within a few steps in various directions are a bakery, a fruit market, a small variety market (local meats, cheeses, yogurt, milk, etc.), ATMs, and an "Anytime" market that has pretty much everything you could need and is open (as the name suggests) 24 hours. And, the kitchen was thoughtfully stocked with beer, wine, fresh fruit, coffee and a few other items.

The location within Athens couldn't be any better. It is literally steps to the Acropolis Museum and easy walking distance to everywhere you would want to go. We never used a taxi or public transportation. We rented a car as we were leaving Athens, and the rental companies are all within a 5 minute walk of the house.

The house itself is fantastic, decorated beautifully and supplied with everything you can think of. We took advantage of the washing machine, and the "dryer" (drying racks), which of course brought on a torrential downpour! But the clothes actually didn't get wetter from the rain, thanks to the huge table umbrella on the rooftop garden. The rooftop garden is a fantastic place to hang out!

Access to the upstairs bedroom and the rooftop garden is either by very steep metal stairs outside or a very tight spiral staircase inside. It was fine for us, but I could imagine that it would be difficult for some to manage either of these. Our duffel bags have backpack straps, so we were able to put them on our backs and get them upstairs. Very large bags would be difficult but easily worked around by bringing the contents upstairs in smaller batches.

The only thing that would have improved the stay for our family of 5 (including 3 young adult "kids") would be if one of the rooms had 2 small beds (or a large bed that could be split into 2 or bunked) instead of 1 large bed, but we made do by having one of our kids sleep on the sofa in the living room, which is not a sleeper. It would actually be great if one of the sofas were a futon.

Stay here! You won't regret it! The stay was absolutely amazing, and if we return to Athens, we will definitely return to Griffin House and Aris' hospitality!

“andor says: Home away from home”
Reviewed 24 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

First of, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION: few minutes walking from the Acropolis, museums, hop on hop off buses, metro station, restaurants and bars.. just fantastic
Second of all, we received nothing but the best customer service at all times: full home familiarization, the owner took time to walk us around the show us how close we were from all the major attractions; he showed us some of the best restaurants around, gave us food tips and even purchased a Greece map when we asked where to purchase one! Arias is the best!
The house is so comfortable with nice and strong air conditioning, great bathroom facilities, very nice bedrooms, a lovely patio and a very nicely set up kitchen. You may also was your clothes if needed. The owner has all kinds of supplies and utensiles as well as food available in the house. You may also explore from hundreds of books and DVD's if you're into leisure. All in all, the best customer service experience we have had. A+++

“Amazing House, Amazing Location, Amazing host!”
Reviewed 17 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Five of us (4 adults, 1, 11-year old boy) stayed in this amazing location in Athens. This rental is a two story house located in the heart of Athens. It is an easy walk from here to the Acropolis and museum. It is also conveniently located close to the Plaka, with its many wonderful shops and restaurants. If you will be needing a rental car, there are rental car companies located within just a few blocks of the house. We rented a car here to drive around Greece and then returned the car to the airport.
The house itself is amazing. It is beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable. It is located on a quiet street. There are 2 lovely bedrooms downstairs with their own bath and well furnished kitchen as well as a very comfortable living area. There is a separate bedroom and bath up the spiral staircase upstairs. There is also an amazing upstairs terrace with a grill, eating area, and clothes drying area. There is a washing machine available as well.
The owner (Aris) is amazing! Upon arrival, he gave us a thorough walking tour of the neighborhood, pointing out the best nearby restaurants, bakeries, banks, markets, etc. He gifted us with a bottle of Greek wine. He had fresh fruit and coffee available for us. He also offered to accompany us to dinner our first night. We accepted his gracious invitation and this may have been our best meal in our 2 week trip to Greece. He picked a wonderful restaurant and chose all of the dishes for us. The food and company was divine. We've rented houses all over the world and never had such a gracious and enjoyable host. He also arranged for our transportation to his house from the airport and this worked out very well.
We can't believe this amazing find! It really set a glorious tone for the rest of our amazing trip to Greece. Thank you so much Aris! We can't say enough wonderful things!

“Your own home in center Athens”
Reviewed 27 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

From the beginning we booked the house I had a good feeling about the special location: 2 Streets from the Acropolis and still quiet. For us important because we are 60+ of age. After meeting mr Aris, the owner, we knew we did a good choise. For our two the house was rather large, but very convenient. We liked the space. We have choosen one of the three bedrooms (two groundfloor and one upper floor). The smal street is used to park cars by the neighbours, but there are almost no other cars passing by. The house is recently totaly rebuilt and restorated and very nice. Also with a collection of handmade glass. Everything is there. Also stuf you can use when you want to cook. Also many towels etc. You really didnot need anything to bring with you. When you want a rest-day, there are a lot of books, Dvd's etc. We slept very well in this quiet place.
Mr Aris started showing us the surrounding with a bakkery, shops, restaurants etc. From here you didnot need metro or bus. His friend Spiros can drive you from and to the airport or to other places. A very friendly and trustfull man. We can recommend this house to everyone. The 3 topics are: Mr.Aris, LOCATION and SPACE.
