“Amazing House, Amazing Location, Amazing host!”
Reviewed 17 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Five of us (4 adults, 1, 11-year old boy) stayed in this amazing location in Athens. This rental is a two story house located in the heart of Athens. It is an easy walk from here to the Acropolis and museum. It is also conveniently located close to the Plaka, with its many wonderful shops and restaurants. If you will be needing a rental car, there are rental car companies located within just a few blocks of the house. We rented a car here to drive around Greece and then returned the car to the airport.
The house itself is amazing. It is beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable. It is located on a quiet street. There are 2 lovely bedrooms downstairs with their own bath and well furnished kitchen as well as a very comfortable living area. There is a separate bedroom and bath up the spiral staircase upstairs. There is also an amazing upstairs terrace with a grill, eating area, and clothes drying area. There is a washing machine available as well.
The owner (Aris) is amazing! Upon arrival, he gave us a thorough walking tour of the neighborhood, pointing out the best nearby restaurants, bakeries, banks, markets, etc. He gifted us with a bottle of Greek wine. He had fresh fruit and coffee available for us. He also offered to accompany us to dinner our first night. We accepted his gracious invitation and this may have been our best meal in our 2 week trip to Greece. He picked a wonderful restaurant and chose all of the dishes for us. The food and company was divine. We've rented houses all over the world and never had such a gracious and enjoyable host. He also arranged for our transportation to his house from the airport and this worked out very well.
We can't believe this amazing find! It really set a glorious tone for the rest of our amazing trip to Greece. Thank you so much Aris! We can't say enough wonderful things!

“Your own home in center Athens”
Reviewed 27 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

From the beginning we booked the house I had a good feeling about the special location: 2 Streets from the Acropolis and still quiet. For us important because we are 60+ of age. After meeting mr Aris, the owner, we knew we did a good choise. For our two the house was rather large, but very convenient. We liked the space. We have choosen one of the three bedrooms (two groundfloor and one upper floor). The smal street is used to park cars by the neighbours, but there are almost no other cars passing by. The house is recently totaly rebuilt and restorated and very nice. Also with a collection of handmade glass. Everything is there. Also stuf you can use when you want to cook. Also many towels etc. You really didnot need anything to bring with you. When you want a rest-day, there are a lot of books, Dvd's etc. We slept very well in this quiet place.
Mr Aris started showing us the surrounding with a bakkery, shops, restaurants etc. From here you didnot need metro or bus. His friend Spiros can drive you from and to the airport or to other places. A very friendly and trustfull man. We can recommend this house to everyone. The 3 topics are: Mr.Aris, LOCATION and SPACE.

“BEST EXPERIENECE EVER!”
Reviewed 26 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

My husband and his brother and sister just came back from our trip to Greece and we stayed in this beautiful and perfect house for 4 nights. I don't know where to get started! This Place and its owner ""Aris"" definitely made our stay in Athens so much more pleasant and unforgettable. Aris made the entire reservation process so easy and smooth. He arranged the Airport transfers with the best and nicest Taxi driver who showed us around Athens for a couple of days as we asked him. Aris greeted us at his lovely house like we were old friends. His sweet, caring and hospitable nature made us right at home. His house is so very homey and comfortable and beautifuly and tastefully decorated that we felt right at home as soon as we arrived. The terrace is a SUPERB place to just chill and have a breakfast or dinner and enjoy his beautiful Plants and feel relaxed. AAAHHH , the Beds are so so so comfortable that made the fatigue of the long hours of travel and also our daily walkings, disappear! The mattresses and the piloows are THE MOST COMFORTABLE ones I have ever slept on, ( and we travel a lot and have stayed at a lot of different vacation rentals and hotels). If I could, I would buy them and bring them back to the States! Aris is so very thoughtful and mindful of ensuring a comfortable and perfect stay for his guests that his house is fully stocked with anything and everything you may need during your stay! Its like a little mini supermarket! The Coffee machine gives you the best Coffee! The Kitchenis fully stocked with al spices, and anything you may need to do a little cooking. And above all, THE LOCATION!!!! It can not be more central! Walking distance to eveything and everywhere! DO NOT NEED A CAR! Aris showed us THE BEST BAKERY which is just a few steps away! I would get the most delicious freshley baked breads and bring it back to the house for our beautiful breakfasts or dinners on the terrace! Aris also showed the best local restaurants and Taverns to eat at which were all the BEST suggestions. All in all, by staying here, we not only gained an incredibly pleasant memory, but also a great friend for life! Everything about this house is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! DO NOT MISS IT! THE BEST HOUSE WITH THE BEST LOCATION, COMFORT, AND OWNER. WHAT ELSE CAN YOU ASK FOR??!!

“Fantanstic Home Away From Home!!!”
Reviewed 28 January 2014 for a stay in January 2014

My family of six stayed here and we loved it! The owner Aris ensured everything we needed was available and was more than ready to assist us for anything we may have required. The rooms were spacious with full beds and the kitchen was fully stocked with appliances and dishes and the balcony was large enough for a small party! There was a full selection of books or DVDs for entertainment if needed. The home is situated almost center mass of all major sites making it easy to get around for site seeing. There is a convenient walk area with a bunch of restaurants and stores for shopping a short walk from the house as well. The key to this excellent home is its owner Aris. He coordinated for a taxi to pick us up and return us to the airport and on our first night (despite arriving later due to flights), he took us out to a local restaurant for a traditional Greek dinner that was delicious and affordable. The food was fantastic and he educated us on Greek cuisine and traditions for eating so we were better prepared when we ventured on our own. He even served as a tour guide giving us detailed histories on the sites we planned on visiting! Aris also gifted us with a bottle of Greek wine and had a bowl of fruits waiting for us in case we needed to eat prior to going to dinner. He was always available when we needed him which was fantastic when we had questions on how to get around. I would highly recommend him and the Acropolis Griffin House to anyone visiting Athens, Greece! We will definitely stay there on any return visit.

“'Greek Magic' - Wonderful Griffin House in Athens”
Reviewed 22 January 2014 for a stay in January 2014

This unique property, situated at the foot of the Acropolis and near the Plaka, provided a wonderful 'home away from home' for our travel weary family. Aris, our host, organized our transport from Athens Airport, then welcomed us to Athens and 'Griffin House' like old friends. The welcome basket of Greek red wine made us feel so welcomed! He provided a tour of the house, showing us the facilities and how to use them, then whipped us off for a walking tour of the neighbourhood, providing expert advice on where to buy the best bread, yoghurt and honey (delicious!). Then off to a local taverna overlooking the illuminated Parthenon, where Aris taught us how to 'eat Greek' and why Greece is the cradle of western civilization. To say that the owner provides good customer service is an understatement. Aris' hospitality, advice and warm welcome is unique and an absolute bonus to the wonderful accommodation. Aris introduced us to the wide range of Greek vegetarian dishes, a great relief for our 3 vegetarian daughters! The listing and the photos provide a true reflection of this quality property which easily accommodated our family of 5. The house has been completely renovated and contains beautiful painted glass features and fragile objet d' art. There are stairs at the front entrance and a narrow winding staircase to the main bedroom. For this reason the property may not be suitable for families with very young children. We were amazed at how well located Griffin House is, only a short walk to the Plaka, the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, the metro station and many of the key archaeological sites in Athens. As well as a myriad of restaurants, bars and cafes, a supermarket, artisan bakery, fruit shop and specialist deli are only a few minutes walk away. A guided tour of the acropolis was well worthwhile, as was the 'hop on, hop off' bus tour of Athens (the bus stop is just round the corner!). We greatly enjoyed our visit to the National Archaeological Museum, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, The Agora and wandering the cafes and shops in the cobblestone lanes of The Plaka. The local people are warm, friendly and very welcoming. The food is unbelievably good and very reasonably priced. Whatever you do, don't miss the thyme honey from the island of Tinos. It's expensive, but you'll never forget the experience!
We have fallen in love with Athens and Greece. This was in no small measure due to the wonderful Griffin House and very special hospitality provided by Aris.
We will be back and would recommend this property most highly.
