I told waiter and owner that I'm not satisfied with moussaka served because they had warm it in micro and it was dry and hard and not fresh. They did not show any interest to compensate bad portion. Cod-fish was far too salty. Bad experiense.

We liked this restaurant so much that we made sure that we went back for a second visit. We were intrigued by the steps leading down into this homely and welcoming taverna, and by being able to see the chef at work from the street. The staff were all very freindly and happy to tell us about the dishes on offer, and their own wine! Everything that we had was freshly prepared and tasted delicious. Eating here was one of the experiences that made our trip to Athens special.

we visited this place at a wednesday evening for dinner. looks like a classical greek taverna. all we ordered were delicious and well cooked. only problem was that some of them (zucchini balls and their speciality which is fried cod) were extra salty.

Do you like fish and chips? This is the place to go! It is one of the most famous tavernas in the bustling and folklore Plaka district. The historic tavern opened in 1865! During the weekend also live music from time to time. This place will remind you of how Athens was 50 years ago... Original cod combined with a little garlic sauce next to it. Get extra potatoes...

after reading previous reviews , we must have got them on a bad night or there has been a change of owners !!! my wife and i called in here on 7th nov 2017, its what i would say typically greek taverna, but thats what we like, we got a table for 2 in the back room near the fridges and what looked like the dirty plate station. now first impressions to me where the owner had a dirty pair of jeans on, dirty old shoes or trainers and a shirt half in and out, the young waiter was not dressed much better, we waited 5 mins for a menu, about the same time to order a drink, then i watched as the young waiter took a tray from off the top of the tall fridge with what looked like baclava or halva i think, picked pieces off with his fingers and put them on a plate, this is after collecting dirty plates off tables and putting them on a shelf for all to see. then we watched as staff picked up fresh cutlery from the box by their tops(not wrapped in napkins and placed them down for the next customers.then a lady appeared, id say the owners wife, somebody must have ordered greek yoghurt with honey. she looked like she had just come in because she still had her coat on. she held the bowls while the young waiter scraped the yoghurt out of what looked like a paint tub and then the dregs of honey from another. now im no snob by any means but at least keep that bit behind closed doors and not in full view and smartern yourselves up at least!! anyway the halloumi starter was like cardboard as was the pitta in between, was actually hard to tell which was which. we ordered the grilled squid to share and when it came, the waiter shook the plate and said be carefull its still alive ... well it tasted like it was.... just couldnt eat it.... we paid and couldnt wait to get out. really sorry for the awfull review but thats an honest account of our evening....
