“Great apartment, great location, great hospitality!”
Reviewed 9 October 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Nice and spacious apartment, very central location. We were there during the World Cup and were right by a plaza that was screening the game outside! It is on top of a very nice bakery, where we we could get breakfast every morning. Within walking distance of many restaurants, shopping and landmarks to visit. Also very close to the riverfront, and you can easily walk across to visit the wineries and wine lodges. The owners and their family are very hospitable and available if ever we needed anything! Would recommend to anyone wanting to visit Porto!!

“Excellent central location.”

This is a clean, attractive, apartment in a historic square overlooking two adjoining churches. The kitchen is well-equipped, the bathroom comprehensive and high-quality (no bath but big shower and bidet) the bedroom ok, with a comfortable bed and substantial wardrobe, and the living room stylish, but simple, with full-length ("juliette") balcony windows which look over two stunning churches and onwards to a square. In March, it could get a little cold but this was overcome by moving electric heaters around. The hosts, Elisa and Luis, are charming and friendly. Luis and his staff in the patisserie are very helpful with the breakfasts included in the rental.

The stairs mean that anyone with mobility problems would have difficulty with this accommodation.

The location is a walk down hill to the river. But there are plenty of good varied restaurants, cafes, museums and shops nearer by. The churches opposite the apartment are worth a look and, whether you are a believer or a non-believer, your views will be reinforced by the beautiful imagery/grotesque opulence of the interiors.

If you walk, there is no end of possibilities. We walked all the way down the south side of the river to the fishing village by the estuary and ate grilled fish at the San Pedro restaurant. Also, take a trip on a tram - very cheap, 2.50 to Foz where there's an old fort and lighthouse. If you don't smile the whole way, you have no heart!

“Hospitality, location and quality - 10/10!”

We stayed in May 2015; husband, wife and 11 year old son. The whole process was easy to arrange and book, all questions quickly answered and nothing too much trouble. We had a wonderful welcome to the apartment; Elisa and Luis were absolutely great hosts. The breakfast every morning was taken on the pavement tables - a wonderful start to the day! Delicious.
The apartment was really beautiful, exceptionally clean and very well stocked, in a wonderful location that had an amazing view of the churches opposite. There are so many interesting places to visit, and the bus stop outside the house enables easy travel.
Go to Porto and have a wonderful time - it's a fabulous place with so much happening - festivals, walks, boat trips, museums, art galleries, parks, beaches, Fado music, Jazz, theatre - and so much more, all against the backdrop of the most beautiful buildings and architecture. Great holiday, will be returning! Thank you!

“Perfect place to stay in Porto.”
Reviewed 13 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

The central location on the square opposite the church Igreja do Carmo and Igreja das Carmelitas is the right place to explore the historic city of Porto on foot.
The building in which the friedly hosts operate a pastry shop has been lovingly restored. This cosy apartment is well equipped and has everything you need.
In addition, for breakfast you must try all the homemade small biscuits, cakes and treats.
The Almond Biscuit apartment was a nice home for these days in Porto and we would happily return.
