Carlos was right there to meet us on arrival. Prior to that, he was so helpful in providing transportation info...apartment was awesome. W/D in the unit, spacious living room with sectional. Clean! Can't go wrong here folks...
Anyone who reviews these apartments and complains about the noise should read previous reviews before they book. The apartments are located in a pretty square, with cafes and pedestrians. The bustle continues late into the night BUT if you aren't looking for solitude, and enjoy 'people watching' from the stunning balcony, then these are for you. If it all gets too much, the heavy wooden shutters keep out all the the noisiest late night revels. The apartments are not huge, but stylish and comfortable. Equipment is more than adequate for a short stay. Comfy beds and stunning granite walls. The location is amazing for exploring the city, and all the sights are within a manageable walk. The quaint trams are a 'must do' and the trip to Foz on the number 1 tram was great fun, with beach bars waiting for you! The furnicular railway is also more fun than it sounds!
Carlos gave us a lovely welcome despite our late arrival, and was faultless in his communication and helpfulness, going 'the extra mile' to make sure that our stay was perfect.
Overall, fantastic, we were really glad we chose the Wine apartment, we would definitely recommend it, and would stay in these apartments again.
Also very convenient for the train to the airport - just a short walk up the road.
The apartment is as described. It is very spacious, impeccably clean, and in an ideal spot for anyone new to Porto and willing to explore the old part of the city. Carlos' apartment is well equipped with the basic essentials. Carlos, the owner, is friendly and is quick responding to email and text inquiries. Once we arrived to Porto, he took the time to explain to me and my husband how to use all the appliances and to point out where the small supermarkets were located. All appliances were in good working condition. In addition he pointed out where we could find a bakery. He suggested places to eat and advised us of typical plates to taste in Porto.
The apartment has Wi-Fi and works well. The apartment is on a pedestrian street; Carlos has a deal with the parking lot down the street and he gives vouchers for a reduced price. It worked out perfect.
Carlos even went out of his way to help us with a little issue we had with the toll ticket. We drove into Porto from northern Spain and went through the EZPass lane (Via Verde). Carlos explained to us what we had to do when we left Porto to take care of the unpaid ticket. We took care of our issue thanks to Carlos.
My husband and I had a wonderful time in Porto, and Carlos and his apartment were part of our positive experience. In our travels, we have learned that the place where you stay has a lot to do with the way you see your new environment.
The apartment is right in the middle of the historical centre of Porto with all the 'must see' sites close by. There are numerous restaurants and bars in the square where the apartment is located and in neighbouring streets. They attract street performers, most of whom are fine and add to the ambience although the occasional one uses amplification which can be intrusive. Still, one of the highlights was sitting on the balcony with a drink in hand watching the world go by in the square below.
The apartment itself is simply furnished, very clean and of a decent size.
There is a lift only part of the way up so you need to be happy with climbing stairs.
Carlos, the landlord was exceptionally helpful with information on train services, recommended restaurants, places to visit, etc.
We would definitely go back.
Wonderful central location, many sites and restaurants nearby. Metro and train station a short walk away. Carlos is a great and informative host. We would stay again.
