A hidden gem, tucked away on top of a hill a very close walk to the local metro stop: Balhão. This metro stop takes you all the way to and from the Airport, so it is very convenient.

The hotel itself is of a 70's style and takes you right back to a quieter time when things in life were simpler.

Fairly quiet, safe area with great panoramic views on the top floor, where the included breakfast is served. Lunch and dinner is optional (we were too busy trying out the cafe's and local food outside to try the other meals upstairs! The view at night should be spectacular)

The gentlemen on the day and night shifts were very accomodating, friendly and polite.

There is a bar on the lobby floor, and is a very calming area to relax with plenty of reading materials.

It is highly recommended and I look forward to another visit there on my next trip to Porto.

The shops are close by, just a brief walking distance and there is an amazing array of cafe's.and souvenir shops along the street with an iconic church by Balhão metro station and another bigger church further up the hill on the left.

There is even a decent sized shopping mall along Catarina Street with a very good food court on the top floor.

Well worth the visit and the stay is wonderful.

Although the building does not appear attractive from the outside and some of the decor inside needs attention, this was more than compensated by the outstanding views and excellent welcome and attention I received from the staff, especially Magda and Leite. Breakfast was good in the 12th floor restaurant with panoramic views of the city. If you prefer to be slightly outside the centre near to eateries and bars among the locals, this place is for you. I thoroughly enjoyed strolling to the centre, stopping for drinks and tascas on the way. Try speaking a little Portuguese and the whole place comes alive!

I spent 2 night at the hotel. Double room with private bathroom. Private, free parking. WiFi. The interior and infrastructure of the hotel remained in the last century, but everything is clean and neat. Classic breakfast. Nothing spectacular: real value for money.

The hotel is located in the street parallel to the one called the heart of the city (Rua de Santa Catarina). From the metro station Bolhao (the purple metro line, direction Estadio to Dragao from the airport) you have at least 800 meters walking up to the hill (inconvenient for heavy luggage and unprepared persons). The rooms are decent and clean, although completely in the spirit of the middle of previous century. The staff is correct and kind, wi-fi excellent. The view (particularly from the restaurant which is situated on the 13th floor of a relatively unobtrusive building) is phenomenal. So, if you are looking for a place to sleep in silence, you do not have any resistance to long walks and you are not insisting on modern at any cost, this hotel is quite a solid choice.
