The most beautiful mountain in Madeira. I walked to Pico Ruivo in 6 hours, but Areiro is the nicest. Most of the walk is on 1500m, at Ruivo 300m to ascend and going back to Areiro again 300m to ascend is very-very difficult. But it worth to go!

So good we did it twice! The journey to the summit is great in a hired car. Scary & exhilarating all at the same time.

Recommend a visit to take in the sunset.

Hiking does absolutely worth it but the weather was so cold innthe morning when we wanted to start our journey. Take warm clothes with u if you would like to start in the morning. In the afternoon at was obviously better when the air was getting warmer. By the way there is two way to the other top and i do not why one of them were locked!? The longer and the nicer one

The road up to it can be a bit scary, especially when two coaches met on a bend, but its well worth it The views are absolutely stunning.

It has an amazing view for the other mountains; this is the second highest place of the island!
There a walk route between this mountain and Pico Ruivo (7Km with high difficulty). I did a couple undread meters, and it seems to be an amazing route. I need to do it, maybe next time that I return here!
