Owner description: • Half - day "Jeep Safari" Departure from Funchal bound to Camara de Lobos, where we drove to Boca dos Namorados (1100 meters) site which overlooks the Curral das Freiras, following here for a typical Madeiran bar where we will stop to prove typical poncha and enjoying the ride "off road" can easily reach the Great Fifth bound for Cabo Girao, where we will enjoy the magnificent view over Funchal and Camara de Lobos, where we will make our last stop. • Full day "The West Island" (Porto Moniz) Departure from Funchal to Ribeira Brava will target where we made our first stop following way toward passing the Paul da Serra Ponta do Sol and Canhas, what shall we do for a course in "off road". Now that we have reached 1400 meters altitude we start down the Fanal until the Ribeira da Janela proceeding toward the Porto Moniz, having lunch at a local restaurant. Salvage forces with the meal and the ocean, we return to Funchal, with a few surprises in the middle, still going through St. Vincent and the ridge Encumeada, our last stop. • Full Day, East (Santana) We started this adventure climbing toward the Pico do Arrieiro 1810 meters. Leaving the South Coast, let's get down to the north of the island, passing through "Ribeiro Frio" where we make one more stop, continuing to "Sao Roque do Faial, Lombo Galego and "off road", we arrive until the Cova da Roda passing by Pico das Pedras to arrive Queimadas 980 metres altitude), in the Natural Park. It will leave for Santana for lunch. After lunch we will leave for Santana and begin the return to Funchal through the Faial Porto da Cruz, where we have the opportunity to visit the sugar factory still pass by Machico. • The Full Day North Island. We started this adventure to North Island leaving early in the morning of Funchal towards the "Porto da Cruz" where we make our first stop, then continue until we get Santana, serpentine paths by which the green laurel and ground will lead us to the parish of Ilha and Sao Jorge where we can enjoy the natural beauty, passing by Cascalho and the Boca das Voltas without doubt one of the most beautiful landscapes of the island. By now we are hungry and go straight for lunch at the "Arco de Sao Jorge," this time will have waterfront. After lunch we continue through the Boa ventura, Ponta Delgada and the caves of Sao Vincent, places where we make stops to visit the localities. By late afternoon we return by Ribeira Brava to Funchal. • The Full Day South Island. The discovery of the southern part of the island begins early in the morning towards Ponta do Sol where we make our first stop since morning with the sun to give the good days. Quickly began to climb up the mountain where we will start the journey off road towards Calheta through valleys and mountains to reach Prazeres toward Ponta do Pargo, the west end of the island to enjoy a delightful view over the sea. But it is already lunch hours and we head for lunch. After lunch we move By Paul do Mar, Jardim do Mar, Calheta and Madalena do Mar, ie the return is always done along the coast down to Funchal.

Our tour guide Nona picked us up on time from our hotel. He provided us with lots of information and stories from all the stops along the way. The off roading at the top of the island for several kilometres added to the excitement of the tour. The stop for a buffet lunch ( additional cost ) was well worth it. We saw some traditional Portugese song, music and dance. If you wanted to you could stomp on some grapes the traditional way to produce the grape juice. The food and drinks ( wine, beer, water and coffee ) were tasty and plentiful. Nona treated us with a traditional poncha drink. When weather and road closures made some of the stops unavailable, Nona took us to other interesting locations. We had a great day and would highly recommend.

Having visited Madeira for many years, this was one of the few trips we had never done the East side in a jeep. Our driver guide Miguel was a very good driver, spoke very good English also spoke German and probably at least another two languages. Miguel told us the history of the Island. We were lucky with the weather as we had no cloud so had lovely views from Pico de Ariero. Using the old roads in a jeep adds an element of fun to the trip. We had stops for drinks and photo taking on the way. We had a nice lunch in Santana with a chance to buy souvenirs. I think a well worth trip.

An excellent full day trip. Picked up from hotel, taken over the top of the island (unfortunately cloud and rain prevented fully enjoying some parts, but didn't spoil the day). Visited lots of places of interest with interesting commentary from Paulo the skilful driver. Plenty of photo opportunities.
The optional €13 lunch is well worth it, with a fabulous viewpoint to take advantage of afterwards.
Delivered back to hotel to complete a very enjoyable day.

Covered the West & East coasts over 2 days and thought it was fantastic.
Approximately 8 hours in total each day with lots of stops with stunning scenery (Some stops for 30-40 mins) 1 of the trips took us so high we were above the clouds. The driver, George, was an excellent driver, funny, helpful & courteous. The day included a 1 hour lunch that only cost an extra 13 euros - 3 courses, with wine. Would totally recommend going - make sure you take a camera!

Not really 4x4.
The cars lack of maintenance.
I did not like it.
You could try and see it for yourself
