It was a misty damp afternoon when we entered the Monte Palace tropical gardens but we are so glad we did. The pathways are laid out so that one can always miss a slow moving group, the frequent tiled walls give a lively and colourful sketch of Portugese history while the oriental garden, making use of flowing water, fish ponds and aquatic windows are excellent. Currently there is an exhibition of Zimbabwean stone sculptures. Please do not be put off by the title. It is simply outstanding in its presentation and content.
There are quiet seats aplenty and nearby cafes provide snacks and drinks for those who want them.
These gardens really are a place to escape into and relax, be entertained and pleased that you went.

Thank JAKEdinburgh

Something is magical about Madeira...like this place. Hard to define this view! The walk can be so long because there is so much to see. You can take an adventure in various cultures during you walk. Unforgettable!

We went in as it looked interesting. We spent 3-4 hours just wondering around appreciating the themes art and fantastic flora and tree displays.
The cafe was very reason able and offered a free maderia taster a free honour. It was very safety conscious steep routes and clear signs 're admittance and supervision of under 15 visitors. There was also a buggy for visitors who would go d the steep parts a challenge.
A good value for money ey day out
