The food was well cooked and the staff were very friendly. Another Restaurant well worth visiting. Quite a range of food on offer.

This is a special restaurant with consistently good food, reasonably priced and served by some of the nicest , friendliest staff in Funchal. We have been visiting the restaurant, which is well frequented by locals for 17 years. In that time the owner sold it, then thankfully bought it back and restored its reputation locally - as one of the best! Evo, who in charge runs a really good restaurant, with excellent customer service!
We can personally recommend- the garlic bread to share and accompany the sautéed prawns, mussels or limpets as the starter! Followed by the local speciality Espatada Beef or Chicken and Pineapple, the mixed grill , or for fish lovers - either the local Espada, with banana or the sea bass! All are excellent and served with either chips and salad or sautéed potatoes and vegetables!
The knowledge and advice given of the local Portuguese inexpensive wines is impressive, thanks to Carlos, Silla and Tatiana!
This local restaurant is both good and reasonably priced - with great staff!

Food is of very good standard,extensive wine & drinks choice,friendly & helpful staff in restuarant with good atmosphere with a mix of tourists and locals.

We have been twice this year, and on both occasions our requested table outdoors was missed, and our greeting was disinterested, bordering on aggressive.
The reason we visited the second time was because the food is actually very good, and is certainly very reasonably priced. Scabbard fish and Lamb Shank would be our recommendations, and if you can see beyond the tone and quality of the "welcome" it is worth a visit. Indeed, several of the ordinary waiters were very pleasant. Easily remedied, I think.

Came here tonight after reading some fab reviews.
Food covered in grease ,
Chose the grilled swordfish , smothered in oil as was the vegetables .
Husband chose mixed meats which was fatty and greasy .
Disappointed after I thought we would have a nice meal .
Sat outside . We felt as though we were sat in a parking bay .
We won’t return.
