Lisboa Carmo Hotel is on Chafariz Do Carmo, tiny yet elegant town square lined with Jacaranda trees. The tree is ubiquitous in Lisbon in the summer and covered with lilac-coloured bulbs which can also be found in the mosaic pavement throughout Lisbon. On weekends, outdoor cafes are set up with bands playing live music. It gets a tad loud occasionally but it makes for amusing background music when the guest room terrace doors are open.
If you are arriving at Lisboa Carmo Hotel by Metro from the airport, get off at Baixa Chiado and walk up on R. Nova do Almada which is a short and light uphill climb rather than from Rossio, which involves a steep climb and flights of stairs.
Santa Justa Lift is stone's throw away from the hotel. In fact you can get free (with daily transit pass like Viva Viagem) and direct access to the back entrance of the elevated viewing platform via the alley to the right of Museu Arqueologico do Carmo from the square. I found this out after queuing and paying Eur 5 via the R. Aura entrance. Also the elevator ride down to R. Aura is a convenient short cut to the heart of everything from the hotel.More
