A lovely street to walk down and the arch at the end is stunning. If you walk through the arch you come to a square- they had a screen up for the world cup games. Really great experience and atmosphere- we watched a Portugal game and it was brilliant.

Great area to shop and eat on Rua Augusta. We also enjoyed the people selling crafts and futbol screen outside. Fun place by the river.

This was a absolutly beautiful plaza through and through. It was enormous and had wonderful architecture. It is also a center or business so there is plenty of places to eat and shop. This history alone for this plaza dates very far back rich in history. One thing i found somewhat amusing is the drug dealers here. I was approached by two separate guys offering to sell me drugs like coke, hash, weed (this is the only reason i gave it a four out of five stars). They weren't aggressive at all just walked up quickly offered, i declined and they were off to ask someone else i'm guessing. this location was well worth the stop don't miss it.

My wife and I recently visited Lisbon on vacation and stayed in the Baixa area of Lisbon. There was so many attractions to see and visit that I am sure we could have spent another two or three weeks in this section of the city alone.

One of the days we took a walk from our hotel to the Praca Do Comercio which was only about a 15 minute walk away. The Plaza is huge and surrounded by many nice restaurants and cafes along its perimeter. The entrance to the Plaza is easy to find thanks to the Arco Do Triunfo...You can spot the Arch from a number of different directions. It is a place you do not want to miss when in Lisbon....

Our hotel was on the Praca do Comercio. A pedestrian street begins there with shops and restaurants. The statue of King Jose stands in the center of the plaza. King Jose oversaw the rebuilding of Lisbon after the 1755 earthquake. At the beginning of the plaza is an arch which was built to remember the 1755 earthquake. From the plaza you can see the harbor and the river Tagus, and the Rua Augusta. The area is the center for transportation as well as tour buses and trolleys. Its history and architecture is worth seeing and you will not go hungry, there are many restaurants on the Rua Augusta.
