Free entry to this converted 17th century church/money museum. Find not only the expected history of money around the world, but also an interesting discussion on the value of money. Just the ticket for our Economics Nat5 exam teen!

Security at the door, which is fine, you just have to take off your bags and any metal items on you. One problem was that it is not clear as to where to go from there, we ended up in the wrong area!! There was good English signage and also very good art work. The coins and notes on display were very interesting, although history of the individual pieces was limited to the date and currency. Overall, nice experience.

Museu do Dinheiro located on Rue do Comercio is formerly a church but has been renovated and changed use to a museum on money affairs. Entrance is free and some interactive activities for creating funs need to be done while going inside. Interesting to see the old structure with modern activities. Recommended.

Beautifully restored old building now turned into a museum of money. Sadly the expo does not match the high quality of the old structure, but do come to see the vestiges of the old Roman city in the basement.

This museum is free and better than many of the attractions you must pay to visit. It’s in the suitably grand Bank of Portugal building with separate exhibitions situated around a spectacular marble hall. Highlights include lifting a gold bar (will probably end any fantasies of becoming a bank robber, and getting your face put on currency. A wonderfully interactive museum, it’s just a shame not e writhing was working.
