We didn't go inside the fort, but just viewed it from the outside. It is right at the cruise ship port. The Sailor Monument is on one side.

Definitely go if staying in Ponta Delgada. Very historic. Interesting exhibits. You can walk all around the fort.

The fort was a short 3/4 mile walk from our hotel. It was very, very well laid out and we spent about 1 1/2 hour touring it. Ponta Delgada was getting ready for Portugal days so this was a very fitting museum.

I was able to see the Forte de S. Bras in Ponta Delgada during a day tour on a repositioning cruise to Europe on the Holland America in 2018. The Fort is very majestic on the port and the history is very interesting.

We might have missed this historic fort had our ship not docked nearby and we passed by the fort a couple of times. A tour guide (not ours!) was nice enough to give us some information about this old fort. We were thankful for her information and made notes to research the fort more upon returning home. If you a history buff, check it out as we did and read more about it when you come home. Recommended!
