This was perhaps our favorite meal of the entire trip. We came on the recommendation of a friend who is Azorean, and we were very lucky to have her guidance. The food was was some of the freshest and best I'd ever tasted.
When you arrive they offer you bread, cheese, and olives. Yes you end up having to pay for it but its delicious and worth the few extra dollars. We started with the lapas, which were perfectly cooked and sizzling when they arrived on the table. I had octopus cooked in the oven with a rich peppery sauce that I wanted to eat by the spoonful. My partner had the fried horse mackerel, which were served with two deliciously sharp and vinegary sauces for sprinkling on top. The acidity cut through the richness of the fish in a way that kept you coming back for more. The local beer, served in small sizes for those who want, was refreshing and crisp with the meal.
Do yourself a favor and make the trip out here to come to this restaurant. You will not be disappointed.
