“We Highly Recommend Gabriel's Pedro Miguel Vacation Home”
Reviewed 17 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

I can't say enough good things about this property. We've been home from our trip now for two weeks - and every day we think about the Heavenly visit that we had at Gabriel Borges' beautiful vacation home in the little town of Pedro Miguel, on Faial Island - in the Azore Islands of Portugal.

This home is simply gorgeous! Just 4 years old - it is equipped with all new furnishings, state-of-the-art appliances, cabinets and closets everywhere - and everything in clean, brand-new condition.

The main living area/kitchen is fronted by all sliding-glass doors which give you a wide-angle view of the beautiful green backyard (about 1-acre in size), and just beyond it the beautiful Atlantic Ocean - and the most prominent vision is of Pico Island just across the channel. Breathtaking view from the kitchen-living room - and of course from the huge balcony on the other side of the sliding glass doors.

The three bedrooms are all modern, comfortable and each has it's own balcony with sliding-glass door. The master bath and family bath are both very spacious and efficient with everything you need. I loved the rain-style shower in the master bath!

All of the windows have electric shutters which are great for gettig over jetlag. Just roll them down, and you have instant night-time, for your first night of sleeping - to get over your jetlag. These shutters are also great to keeping the house cool (roll them down halfway to block the sun - but still let the breeze blow through).

Gariel Borges' father Joe lives in the apartment on the bottom floor of the house - and if he is there when you visit, Joe will surely visit you and spread some of that wonderful Azorean hospitality in your direction. Joe brought us several delicious food items (leftover from when guests came to visit him that day). Joe also was super-helpful if we had problems with the washer-dryer, apartment issues -- and especially for advice on fun things to see in Faial.

It's important to note that Garbiel's home lot fronts on a beautiful private beach - Praia Boca Grota. Just walk out the front door, walk around the corner and follow the steps down to the beach. The water is just the right temperature, the swimming is great!

When we arrived in Faial, our driver picked us up from the airport and took us straight to Supermercado Continente, where we purchased groceries for our one week stay. Gabriel Borges (the property owner) recommended this. Great idea!

We LOVED taking twice-daily walks around the little tiny town of Pedro Miguel. The entire town is very quiet, with friendly locals that you will pass from time to time. We even enjoyed visiting the Festa do Sao Pedro on our last day there (June 29). The town is really a collection of dozens of beautiful homes (some small and some large) + two cafes, a church hall and the ruins of the devastated Catholic church that fell in the big earthquake in the 1990s. Pedro Miguel has such charm.

EVERYWHERE you go in this area, you're treated to the beautiful view of Pico Island - just across the channel. This is Portugal's tallest mountain, and it's therapeatic just to sit on the balcony of this beautiful home, and look out at Pico.

We hired vans for the various tours that we took while here (we were a party of 5) -- but next time we come to Faial, we will rent a car. Driving around the island seems very easy. There are no freeways -- just beautiful scenic country roads.

I look forward to going back to Gabriel Borges' Pedro Miguel home soon. I highly recommend this home to everyone. Whether you book the top-floor apartment or the second-floor apartment (or both) -- you'll find this place to a perfect home-away-from-home when you're in Faial.

Bom Viagem :)

The house is placed in a quiet location near a small sandy beach, it only takes 3 minutes walking to the beach.
The view over the ocean and the island of Pico is beautiful.
By car it takes 15 min. to the city of Horta, and 30 min. to the airport.
Everything was clean and neat.
Bed linen, kitchen and toilet products were available.
The perfect place for a great holiday for a family with kids.
