This accommodation was originally built for the high end resale market and therefore has a very high specification, with balconies off every room, music system wired throughout the property, whirlpool bath in the master bathroom, built in BBQ on the terrace etc. It is a beautifully maintained complex with a mix of apartments, town houses and villas, and was very quiet when we were there. It is safe for children as there is a lockable gate separating the children's pool from the main pool. There is a lovely friendly bar/restaurant just a few minutes walk away, where the food is superb and the service helpful and friendly. It was there that we would order a taxi to take us anywhere we wanted to go each day. The downside to the property is the distance to anywhere else, the nearest supermarket is approx 15 minutes walk downhill (so it's uphill on the way back with your shopping) and other than the bar/restaurant, all other shops on the complex are currently unoccupied and it is definitely more than 700 metres or 10 minutes walk from the old town. We timed the walk one day and it took exactly 30 minutes from the accommodation to the taxi rank in town where we would usually get dropped off. However, this taxi rank was the closest to the accommodation. There are no waiting or cruising taxis so you need to ask the bar owner to call one for you and wait for it to arrive which, at busy periods, can take a while. It is nice to sit outside the bar with a cold drink while you wait though. So, if you don't fancy that walk each way then you need to budget an extra 5 euros each way. That's 20 euros per day if you want to spend the day at the beach, then go home to shower and change before a night out. We didn't have children with us but I can imagine it can feel like quite a trek with tired children after a day at the beach and the pavement along the entire route is cobbled, which although pretty to look at is a bit hard on the feet and I imagine a bit bumpy for pushchairs. Although the accommodation is lovely, there had been a mix up with our transfer from the airport so we had to search for our driver, then there was no-one to meet us at the property to give us the keys and we had to sit and wait in the car while the driver tracked someone down. We booked our own transfer back to the airport to avoid any further misunderstanding. We were eventually let in by the cleaner. We were initially disappointed when we first entered the property to discover the internal décor and furnishings bear no resemblance to the photos on the advert. It would appear those photos are of the show home when the properties were first put up for sale and not what you actually get. Another surprise to us was that, although we had booked a villa, Villa Adrianna, we were mid terrace and our accommodation was on the 1st and 2nd floor (no lift), with someone living beneath us. When the driver arrived with our transport back to the airport he said he had been to Villa Adrianna only to discover we weren't there and when I told him that was where we were he told us we weren't. We had been allocated a converted town house and the villas were further up the road, and had gardens etc. So you need to be prepared to be allocated any vacant property on the complex, not necessarily the one you think you're getting. Having said all of that, we had a fantastic holiday and due largely to the friendliness of the bar/restaurant and the size and quality of the accommodation, we would go back. Only next time, we will insist on getting the accommodation we actually book.
