Two week break, 15/2 to 1/3. Close to Albufeira Old Town, a place we love and only a 7/8 Euro taxi ride away. We chose the self catering option as we think it gives more freedom, tho the option to have either breakfast or dinner (or both) was available at a cost. I can't recall the b'fast cost, but dinner was €19 per person. Food was OK but nothing special - just worth doing it on the odd occasion.
Generally the site is excellent and the staff superb. Reception, restaurants and bars, cleaners etc. We had a one bedroom apartment which was comfortable, although the settee's comfort left much to be desired. No instructions for anything in the apartment so the cooker was a problem initially. Our balcony was minute - with 2 chairs and a small table you could not fully open the door!
My wife and I are 71 and 70. She is also registered as 'blind'. Stairs are a problem for her and we had asked our tour operator for accommodation as close as possible to ground level. We were put in a second floor apartment! We asked for a lower one but nothing was available. The stairs were a struggle for me too when carrying luggage or food shopping.
There is a small supermarket on site, but it's pricey. There are supermarkets close by, but we found the best one to be about 15/20 minutes walk away in the direction of Albufeira. Turn right at the first roundabout and it's just on the left.
The Bouganvilia bar/restaurant on site is great. Their apple pie is to die for, and their sea bass is exquisite.
There are plenty of pools on site, with plentiful sunbeds. Tho in the high season demand will be high.
Do go down to the beach, but do so carefully!
There are various excursions if these interest you, and a shuttle bus into the Old Town.
Overall, highly recommended despite minor drawbacks. This was my second time and my wife's third.

Upon doing a search , the Alfagar came up with very good pricing and excellent reviews as well..

We stayed two weeks in February and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.. Can't say enough about this place... from super friendly reception to efficient housekeeping..all was fantastic!

A two bedroom two bath apartment with kitchen was like being at home ...we had all that was necessary to have meals in or dine out... And the little market right on the premises is not only very convenient but also reasonably priced and even sells wine.

There is no shortage of pools and the grounds are kept beautifully... I couldn't stop taking pictures...

The location is excellent... perched atop a cliff....the beach was just a scenic walk down the stairs .

We walked into the Old Town of Albufiera (50 minute walk )most mornings for breakfast on the beach..

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO : bring your own toiletries since there is only one small bottle of shampoo and soap provided for entire stay.. housecleaning and towels are every other day ... bring your own gym or pool towel since none are provided without a charge..hair dryer in bathroom was ok...but I would bring my own next time.. There is a safe but you need to rent a key for it..

The Buganvilla restaurant was good.. and service was super accommodating and friendly; however the buffet offered in the dining room was just ok and not worth the cost...I can't comment on the Red Bar since we didn't go there...

I can't wait to return next year for a longer stay...

Many thanks to Victor and great staff for an awesome stay.. Hope you are enjoying the maple syrup

5 weeks at Alfagar village 1.
This is the 2nd time we have stayed here and we were not disappointed.
The setting is quite special over looking beautifully tended gardens standing on the clifftops over looking spectacular sea views.
The apartments have air conditioning units which also double up as heating units for winter stays in the main room and bedrooms.
Reception is well organised and well run.
Maid services are provided by lovely efficient staff nothing is to much effort and they are quick to sort any problems.
We had a bulb out it was sorted in 5 min.
Christina at reception was charming.
I can't think of any reason we would not go back later this year or maybe next year.

The apartment was perfect for two, evetything was there. In the apartment was no wifi but if you walk to the reception or to the bar Buganvilla you have very good wifi.
People working there is very nice.
