I wish I could write a positive review about our stay. After all there was nothing to say about the breakfast which was great to the room which was ok for a 4 star hotel.
What was for me a first, and this for someone who’s spending more than 150 nights a year in hotels, is the arrogance and total lack of customer service one of from desk men had.
We spend a few days with friends and our small dog in Brugge (for which you pay 25 Euro a night extra). Only a few hours into the room our dog became very restless and warm. In the morning we found out her belly was full of large red dots. We asked the front desk manager if another room was available because this was clearly something she got in in the room. He started saying that this was not possible and it’s probably our dogs fault. No apology or the slightest compassion for the situation. I told him I would need to go to a vet because of all the large dots. His reaction was : that’s probably best.
The vet was clearly surprised as well and said she most have gotten a severe allergic reaction to one of the products they use in the room to clean and received a cortisone shot and pills for the reaction and to get her fever down which she also had in the meantime.
Returning to the hotel we saw other front desk staff who were indeed concerned and asked if there was anything they could do. We asked them to clean the room (clearly not getting another one) with water.
It became better for our dog later.
The day after same front desk man for checkout. I explained the situation and told him (as advised by the vet who said this was not the first dog she had seen) to double check the cleaning products for the future. The vet even wrote everything down for us to show to the hotel.
Again no apology, not a simple sorry. Nothing. Only an arrogant smile saying: we’ll check but I’m sure it wasn’t our fault. Giving me the bill to my surprise finding 50 Euro extra for our dog...
A simple sorry or saying we’ll look into it and as a courtesy we deduct the cost of the dog or anything else would have been more than enough for us.
It’s a pity 1 person can in fact ruin the entire experience and make the reputation of the hotel and his other colleagues bad.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks to share your opinion.
We are happy to hear that you enjoyed breakfast and liked your room.

I regret to hear the situation about your dog.

During the morning you informed us about the situation and asked to change rooms, however you first wanted to go to the vet.
We never informed you that it was not possible. We only informed you if it appears that the dog is allergic to our wooden floors, that all our rooms have a wooden floor.

We clean daily our rooms with a biologic product.
You never showed us the information from the vet that the allergic reaction was caused by some product we use in the hotel.
Allergic reaction can have different reasons.

We never experienced this problem in our hotel before.

The charge of 25.00 EUR per night is in fact for a deep cleaning caused by the dog, which was very needed in your case.

We hope that everything is fine with your dog in meanwhile.

We chose this hotel because we took our motorbikes and needed somewhere safe to store them. Definitely not disappointed. Lovely quaint hotel with a roaring log fire which we needed in the evening, even though it was June. The staff were so knowledgeable and helpful which was a great help for us. We did have breakfast once and the food was lovely. I must admit I enjoyed tasting the chocolate the most. Stepping out of the hotel right by the canal and so near one of the town squares was an added bonus. Would definitely come back and stay here again.

This is a great choice for a classic small hotel right in the very center of Bruges. It is right on the canal and is so picturesque when you step outside the hotel. Simple furniture and very basic. They could really use some softness to the room, such as a rug on the bare floor, extra pillows in the room, and maybe a throw at the end of the bed. Very nice view from our suite and it was clean. They are very skimpy on the size of the soap bars, and that was also disappointing. This is an okay choice for a hotel, because it was quiet and is owner operated. Very nice breakfast served from friendly and warm staff. Just needs to be more elegantly furnished for the price one pays. We were able to walk to all of the shopping and restaurants. We rented bikes ever day from a near by shop. The bike riding to Dammes was amazing! We also rode around the outskirts of Bruges and really enjoyed that too. Will definitely go back to Bruges, just think they are so much nicer hotels all over the place that are nicer.

What a beautiful old-world hotel right near the center of Bruges and fronted by a canal. You will go back in time viewing the front entryway to the hotel with its black and white tiled floor and old furniture and detailing. The front desk staff were welcoming and very helpful. Our immaculate room overlooked the canal and was just gorgeous and very comfortable. We slept like babies! Breakfast was served in a magnificent room on the first floor featuring beautiful mural-ed walls. Great coffee and tea were on offer and the buffet featured eggs and bacon and sausage and other fixings plus great pastries and bread and yogurt and fruit. A fantastic way to face the day and a most memorable hotel.

Our first visit to Bruges and we were delighted with our choice of hotel. The location is perfect for exploring the city, and to wander around in the evening. If you arrive by Coach its only a 10-15 minute walk to the hotel, so easy to find also.
We had room only so cant comment on the breakfasts ( I believe 25 euros p/p) and there is a bar open from 8am to 2 pm also. Our room was right up in the Gods, but the 2 velux window were at a height to give us fantastic views over the city and canal. We had a small mini bar, tea/coffee making and water etc All as you would expect.
The only criticism was the mattress in the room - it was clearly not new, and a bit lumpy to be honest, other than than fantastic.
Staff on reception were very friendly and helpful , made us feel very welcome which is so often not the case in city hotels.

Room Tip: top floor rooms clearly less expensive but if you can get one facing the canal ( we had 333) it was a good deal.
