We stumbled on this place which is probably the best way to do it as we had no expectations, (though we knew the Grand Place was a major tourist attraction). The lighting when we got there was partial sun so that made it much nicer than if it had been cloudy as all the gold trim on some of the buildings really shown. I could not get over the buildings that line the square- Some are incredibly ornate and intricate. We easily snagged an outdoor table in front of the Starbucks (yes, you cannot avoid the place in Europe either) and had an espresso as we took in the entire area. It was equally spectacular when we returned late at night.
