What a great shrimp salad!
Proost is a decent size cafe/bar with a small menu but all the food looked very good. They serve different sandwiches, salads and fried eggs. Absolutely a place I would go back to!

Close to the apartment we were staying in, we went twice. Small cafe, small menu, but reasonable food at good prices. Our server was excellent, patiently explaining the whole menu (Dutch) to us. Food was average, nothing special, just a comfortable meal. Enjoyed the vibe.

This restaurant is a little bit outside the city centre, so the chances of you just coming across it by chance are slim. That's a real pity because it's located in a real nice area (just across from the Grift Park) and their food is very tasty.

They operate a "sam-sam" system. That means you can have half-portions of everything you order, so instead of having a three-course menu you can have a six-course menu! It's a great way to try out more things on the menu.

We had: a red beet salad and a Thai soup for starters. I have no idea why they have a Thai soup on the menu but I'm glad they did because it was delicious. Just a little bit spicy but not too much. We also had Gorgonzola 'krokets' (a deep-fried, crunchy batter). Quite unusual and tasty.

Main courses were - fish (kabeljaufilet) and risotto and the Angus steak. Meat was cooked to perfection!
Dessert was a strawberry, rhubarb, lemon crumble and a chocolate/coconut round. Hmmm.

Two excellent cups of coffee topped the whole lot off perfectly.

The restaurant has a nice, homely feel to it. It has a sort of bay window layout, so you can see the surrounding/outside area from around 2/3rds of the restaurant. It was quite busy when we were there. The staff were friendly - not too pushy but attentive. Would definitely eat there again.

Delicious, friendly family-run restaurant. This is our favorite spot in Utrecht. Amazing food which can be ordered in half portions so you can try more. Delightful!

We had a great evening at this restaurant! The food, service and atmosphere was outstanding. The feeling of warmth and coziness completely fulfilled that untranslatable Netherlands word, gezzeligheid! The musicians who made a surprise appearance were also very talented, and only added to the great experience.
