My husband and I enjoyed the all you can eat way of ordering for lunch here yesterday. The ordering process was very confusing...apparently you get 8 courses of 10 items per course. Some items are one sushi roll or one shrimp, so it’s almost as if your 10 items you order per course are really 10 bites worth. Having said that, though we were entitled to eight courses, we could only get through three before being absolutely stuffed. The options ranged from sushi to chicken and beef dishes, shrimp and fried rice and noodles. We loved the tempura shrimp, pepper steak, chicken yakatori, chicken noodle bowl and potstickers best. Our server was trying to tell us something about a surcharge or penalty for ordering things you didn’t finish? We couldn’t figure out what he was saying and no extra charges appeared on our bill. The ordering was done on a tablet with pictures of each item that allows you to order 10 total items before freezing you out for 10 minutes after which time you may make your next 10 item selections for the next course. Great for a group as it’s almost Japanese tapas style.

Good location right in the main square, with tables outside. Service was friendly but it is a busy place that you can se relies on high turnover. This is doesnt take away too much, and to be frank is pretty fair given the value on offer.
You are provided with a tablet and given two hours max, to select 5 dishes at a time from a menu of what seemed to be a hundred items. There is a maximum of 5 rounds and I managed 4, as a big eater I would say that 5 is really going some. The countdown clock on the tablet becomes slightly addictive!
The basic cusine is Japanese with some others put into the mix. All the food was freshly made and whilst not the best of it type it was certainly not bad.
All in all if you want to try or like this type of place, this is a very good set up for you to try

Great food, great service. We were seated, made our choice of first round dishes which were on the table within minutes. And this on Saturday evening at six o’ clock.

Dishes were brought and dirty plates removed unobtrusively making for a relaxed and unpressured visit at the busiest time of the week.

We will be definitely returning.

We went to eat at Sumo Sushi at Haarlem near the square. The waitress (a short, dark lady with long, painted nails) explained that they had an "all you can eat" menu, in which you pay 19 euros for a round of 5 courses. We were told and recommended by our friends that you can get many more courses for that price, and so we specifically asked her again and again whether or not the payment included more courses (since they are small for each round) and she explained that they were not. We later found out that same waitress was rude to our friends when they have eaten there. That was the only experience to dampen our stay at Haarlem, and so this is to inform other visitors to avoid Sumo Sushi and a similar bad experience.

We had the "all you can eat" menu. We had 12 dishes each and there were 5 courses. We could only manage 2 and the desert. Very nice Sushi and well organised. We used a tablet to order our dishes and they came almost immediately despite the restaurant being very busy.
Very good service from the staff too - friendly and helpful too. This is our second visit to a Sumo Sushi and we would go again.
