I really enjoy going to this cinema because it's clean, easy accessible and the screens are good. I would recommend it if you want to watch a movie around Amsterdam.

Pathe Arena is one of the only 4 multiplexes in Amsterdam (yes isn't that too few?) and definitely the best among those 4. The other 3 (Pathe de Munt, Pathe Tuschinski & Pathe City) are situated in Centraal area while this one is situated in Arena area it is easy to reach by metro, trains and bus as its situated right next to the Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena bus and train station.
They have 14 screens including the IMAX. Plenty of touch screen machines to book / pick your tickets. The staff is friendly and helpful. They also have a desk to buy tickets if you don't want to buy from the touch screen machines. Although if you watch movies often and are living in Amsterdam / Netherlands, there is no reason why you shouldn't opt for becoming Pathe unlimited member with 2 options to chose from for monthly membership of 19/26 euro. Even if you watch 2 movies in a month, you get your money's worth.
A good variety of drinks (non alcholic) to choose from although a little expensive. They do have grolsch beer as well. Although food options are not much, except for salted/sweet popcorn and nachos chips, coffee and candies. Be ready to encounter some lines for getting your food items billed at the cashier as even after being there for countless number of times, I have never seen more than 3 counters ever open. The waiting and seating area is built on stairs and is quite interesting with color changing lights.
The screens are good, sound system is nice and are usually clean. The IMAX screen has the largest capacity among all the screens, is decently large with great sound, although needs to be revamped. The IMAX screen is not at all beautiful and is plain average.
The weirdest thing in all Pathe cinemas is that the bottle holder is built on back of seat in front of you, which is absolutely weird because you will end up touching or colliding with the bottles while you walk or else you may hit the bottle yourself while sitting with stretched legs. Why can't the bottle holders be built near the hand rest?
The movie selection is also weird, because they keep playing movies that have been playing since 3 months and older and hence do not show all hollywood as well as bollywood movies. They do play Dutch movies but thats about it. All the movies have Dutch subtitles. Sometimes in Hollywood movies when there is English text displayed on screen when the characters are speaking language other than English (something like Russian, Japanese, as an example), they remove the English text and just show the Dutch translated version which is unfair to the movie itself. Also I do not understand the movie timings they have. On a friday, they always have movies that start after 23:30 or later at night, late shows as late as 01:00 or 02:00 at night even for Bollywood movies. Why can't the show timings be a little properly designed?
The movies also start too late at all Pathe cinemas. Usually the movie will start as late as 20 mins from the mentioned time as they are busy showing trailers and advertisements. 20 mins is a bit too much.

I rate it as a pretty average multiplex with 14 screens, and still the best in Amsterdam area. The food options are too less, movie selection is not great (being a capital city), why keep showing flop movies even after 3 months and show timings are usually totally absurd.

I took the Pathé Unlimited Gold membership because of this place. I'm a movie buff and Pathé Arena is perfect for me. I mostly visit here on Saturdays and watch 2-3 movies.

We planned our trip with a group of 10 people. We tried to book our tickets via the website. The first time it didn't allow us and the second time we couldn't take the same seats. Besides the trouble to pre book the tickets the cinema on itself is very nice. Comfy seats.

Went to Ben-Hur in theater number 14. With the full IMAX experience. Really good! Pay a few bucks extra for this. Absolutely worth it.
