I have dined at Di Bruno several times and every time the experience has been exceptional - my favorite Italian restaurant in Amsterdam.

The grilled squid appetizer and sea bream with porcini mushrooms were tasty and nicely presented, and I’ve enjoyed the osso bucco in the past. Certainly worth a visit and conveniently located in walking distance to museumplein.

Revised recipes inspired by Italian tastes. Some a bit too original but tasty. The atmosphere is cosy and the staff attentive. Perhaps a bit expensive for the Italian but aligned to prices in that area of Amsterdam.

This is the third or fourth time time I was dining at the Di Bruno. Always gave a 4 star rating. Not this time. The buffalo mozzarella and tomato was not as tasty as usual. And the fish which was on special, was good, expertly filleted at the table but unfortunately the taste was rather indifferent. Is this because this was a Friday and the chef could not verify the preparation of the dish? The evening was not as rewarding (from the taste buds point of view) as it usually was the case while pricing (total bill added up to €65 ) did not reflect the standard Di Bruno normally represents. Service was good. I decided not to complain, paid the bill and left. I hope this v ing was an exception to the rule and this neighborhood gem will do better the next time.

Excellent food and service. We picked this restaurant because it was close to our hotel, the Hilton Appollolaan. It is a small neighborhood place. The cooking is to a high standard. We had the grilled squid and the rocket salad starters, followed by spaghetti with clams and the eggplant with pine nuts, with tiramisu and lemon ice cream with vodka and Prosecco for desert. What was striking was vibrancy and distinctness the tastes of each ingredient. The staff was all Italian and it seemed that much of the clientele were as well.

I found Di Bruno after walking up the street after a long visit to the Rijksmuseum. I was intrigued by their open door mid afternoon,an empty restaurant and a great menu on display. I saw the TripAdvisor sticker on the front window, looked at the online reviews and then took a gamble on a booking for dinner-a gamble because my husband is of Italian heritage and very critical of what is presented as authentic Italian cuisine. Di Bruno did not disappoint-the food, service and experience was totally authentic and reinforced our other experience at De Plantage for Amsterdam as a place for great food and terrific service plus value. We would definitely recommend if you are looking for good Italian food outside of the tourist areas. Very much worth the effort and an easy No 2 tram ride from central. Thank you Di Bruno!!
