Authentic experiences are rare these days, often replaced by shinny modern day replicas -- this houseboat is charming, authentic and real. For travelers seeking that little taste of "what life was like when..." this houseboat is for you. Great location on the river Amstel in central Amsterdam, short walk to the popular tourist attractions, but nestled in a local neighborhood. Accommodations were fantastic, wood paneling, colorful tiles, comfy beds that sleep 4, quaint bathroom/shower, small kitchen and even a working potbelly wood stove in the central room for cold nights, (main heat from modern radiators). The owners, Coleta and Stanley live a few boats away and were outstanding hosts, and it was obvious that they take pride in preserving and sharing this traditional 1913 houseboat. Make no mistake this is not a renovated property with glossy floors and trendy appliances, this boat remains much as it was when converted from a working boat to a houseboat in the 50's in response to a housing shortage in Amsterdam -- which is why it should be experienced! So, if you are looking for a true houseboat adventure, in a great location, run by fantastic hosts, then this rental is for you!
