Description: The characteristic building at number 21 in the famous Reguliersdwarsstraat in the city centre of Amsterdam has a warm and relaxed ambiance. The interior has a retro look with a cheerful Mediterranean-Caribbean twist. The large bar with an extensive collection of spirits jumps right in the eye and invites you to drink one of our cocktails or just an ice cold beer. The menu consists of classic dishes, with an emphasis on comfort food. As a starter we serve for example a crispy Soft Shell Crab in tempura or Quinoa salad with figs, blue cheese and bacon. For the main dish we can not miss the Red Snapper: the fillet grilled with a Caribbean salsa and served with a cous cous salad. Or do you prefer a Surf 'n Turf with Diamond Fillet and Black Tiger Prawns? We serve also all time favorites with a "Snappers twist" as Fish & Chips and juicy BBQ Ribs. The prices of the entrees remain all under 10 euros, the prices of the main courses range from 12 to 18 euros. Oscar Steginga responsible for the cocktails, has made a beautiful cocktail menu including classic tiki and tropical cocktails. He works with lots of fresh fruit and homemade juices. And you can taste it! Take for example the Big Bamboo, including a mix of pineapple, overproof rum and Havana 3y. He uses homemade syrups such as rice syrup in the Healthy Pluym (Ketel One Vodka, green tea, prosecco and lemon in it). Furthermore, there are all sorts of Gin & Tonic combination served in perfect harmony.

DO NOT go to this restaurant. I have no good explanation for why their overall reviews are so good. None. Other than maybe (?) food reviews are somewhat cultural and Americans like something completely different from the Dutch. I doubt it. Seriously, don’t go.

The food was borderline outright bad. The meat for burgers was characteristic for this region (not great in my opinion but this could totally be cultural), but everything was bad - burritos, salads, and nachos. We had a large party and tried many things. NOTHING was good. NOTHING.

Then the service.... if the food was good, you could overlook the poor service. But, as I said, it wasn’t. The waitress mistook how many of several orders we wanted (burritos and fries) despite clarifying several times, had someone in our party write their own order in her pad (maybe a language thing but we were pronouncing it right and she spoke English?), and then delivered 2 entrees so late the rest of the party was done eating. Some in our party were slow eaters so it was no small feat to be that late.

All around horrendous experience.

ordered a draught beer that was 1/3 head. It wasn't just us because the table outside ordered four, and they were all like that.

ordered a tap water. "We don't have tap water." Oh, so the ice cubes in your ice bin just magically appeared?

1/2 pint of beer + two waters = 14 Euro. The bad service was free.
