My family spent three nights at Hotel Larende. The hotel is centrally located, and simple, comfortable and clean. The best thing about the hotel was Andrea, the desk clerk. She was so kind and helpful, went out of her way to be helpful. The breakfast was pretty good....eggs, cheese, bread and fruit. We felt like we were well treated, and would recommend it as a less expensive option than the bigger, tourist oriented hotels.

This is a pretty simple hotel. Small rooms, basic amenities, clean. Decent morning buffet. Very nice staff, especially the young woman who works the morning front desk shift. Owner seemed a bit standoffish and not all that interested in imparting much information to us (although people had given him such rave reviews here) so that was odd to me. For Americans who can't stand a moment without A/C, this is not the place for you. Top floor is significantly more warm than other floors. You can order a fan from the front desk if it's too warm.

There are no coffee making materials in the room, although they will make you a decent cup at the front desk any time you ask. We found the fact that the fridge turned off when you left the room and took your room key, to be an issue. It's a brilliant idea to save electricity but for some reason this hotel does not have that built into their room that it won't turn off the fridge. Made it difficult to keep perishables.

Easy access to downtown via the tram. Tram system is not hard to navigate. You can buy tickets at the front desk and they will guide you to which tram lines to ride. Quiet neighborhood in the sense that it doesn't have all the tourists but still has the locals commuting on their bikes and mopeds.

We stayed at this hotel prior to getting on our river cruise. The hotel staff was very accommodating. They allowed us to leave our luggage at the hotel early in the morning so that we could visit the city. When we returned in the afternoon, they offered us a drink (beer, coffee, water, etc.). In fact, every afternoon they offered a drink. They staff was very helpful with res various for restaurants, tours and suggestions for activities.

The rooms are very nice. They are a good size and have a decent amount of space for your daily living items. The beds are a bit hard. It did take a little getting use to but they were much better than getting a saggy bed. The hotel provides breakfast everyday. The breakfast is a nice array of food from cereal to eggs, meats and cheeses. They also serve croissants and other breads and fruits. The hotel also service dinner for an additional fee. The food is pretty good.

The hotel is located on a tram line which makes it easy to get to various places around town. The tram rides are about 5 to 10 minutes to Dam Square. You have choices of three trams leaving from the area.

We ate just once here in the evening during our short stay. We could have dined here every night as the food was so good, but I had wanted to try other places for different types of dishes.
We had pasta with homemade bread. Both were delicious. The pasta was so good, soft and the sauce lovely. A large portion too, I didn't manage to finish it all. The bread was like a pizza bread, very good also.
The pizzas were recommended so we will have to try them on another visit.
