Take a tram 10 out towards the west of Amsterdam, walk through Westerpark and you'll arrive at Het Schip, a fascinating area with examples of the Amsterdam School of architecture and a museum.
You do not need to be an academic to enjoy the history and articles of how this area of social housing developed, and the buildings are amazing and very different to see.
Work is apparently underway to enable this to be a world heritage site.
Our tour lasted an hour, and we walked with our guide, Charlotte, whose enthusiasm and knowledge made it a real treat.
A lot of thought has gone into Het Schip, and it is well worth the interesting tram ride to see.
