Owner description: The Anne Frank House is a museum with a story. As a visitor, you experience this story through a free audio tour, quotes, photos, videos, and original items. The Anne Frank House can only be visited with an online ticket for a specific date and time. 80% of the tickets are released exactly two months in advance. The remaining 20% are released on the Anne Frank House website on the day itself at 9 AM. The demand often exceeds the number of available tickets. We advise you to buy your online tickets well ahead of time. Tickets for holidays and weekends sell out quickly.

The program is almost mandatory. Since the entrance we can be very emotional, specially with the audio. Everybody gets a little bit tense, no loud voices.
Everyone should do it and then, walk through the neighborhood.

Although there isn't a lot to see in the house, there's enough to read and see to make the trip quite worthwhile. It's a moving experience, and worth the time. Make sure you make reservations online several months in advance. We saw TONS of people who didn't realize you could only buy tickets online (far in advance of your visit) and they were unable to enter.

We found this visit very interesting, especially as we had read the diary beforehand. However, you do need to book a slot on-line well beforehand or you won’t be able to get in.
Advice for the elderly/infirm: it is difficult to get up the steep entry step to the attic and a couple of people with hip or leg problems really struggled.

If you’re in Amsterdam this is not to be missed. Just make sure to schedule it in advance on line to avoid the lines. Standing in the building where Anne Frank and her family lived, and particularly being in the rooms where they hid, brings home the intense fear and challenges they faced trying to survive in these terrible times. The museum is well organized and the audio tour which is free and available in multiple languages is very well done.

Make certain to buy your tickets ahead of time ONLINE - it's the only way they handle it. The queue moved quickly and once you're in, it's self guided and you can take all the time you want. The audio tour is fantastic and easy to use. The house has been restored nicely and the commentary is easy to follow and informative. It's just such a sad story and to stand in the room where they lived is quite emotional - at least for me. Definitely worth the visit.
