Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Due to renewal work, until 1 July 2018, all visitors must purchase an online ticket with a time slot in advance. Tickets are made available on the website www.annefrank.org two months in advance. The Anne Frank House is a small museum with limited capacity. The demand for tickets is far greater than the number available, so there may be no tickets available for certain dates. We hope you can find a suitable date and welcome you in the Anne Frank House.

Tried booking our visit a couple of months ago but it was fully booked. So pleased I tried again two days before to find availability. I don't think the queuing system is great, especially if it's raining. Don't expect to go straight in as you've booked, you still have to queue for at least 30 minutes. However it is worth the wait and definitely a must do.

Get your tickets well in advance-- you show up at the time that your ticket shows (there is nowhere to linger as you wait outside). Once inside and your ticket is scanned, there is a bathroom that can be accessed (until then you have to go around the corner and pay 1 euro at a public restroom). At the end of the tour there is a cafe and gift shop-- well put together.

I visited Anne Franks House with my family, including children aged 6, 4 and 4 months.

You must prebook online! We booked for 8:30am and arrived to a queue with several hundred people in it, we were about to give up on the idea until we realised they hadn't booked. We were able to walk straight to the front of the line and head inside.

You cannot take your pushchair around the house, but they will store it for you in the lobby area. Ideally bring a baby carrier if you have a child under one as you do have some very steep staircases/ladders to climb.

Although its not recommended for young children, no one seemed to notice mine were there and they didn't cause an issue, my young baby was in fact upset and I carried her whilst discretely breastfeeding and nobody took any notice.

Anne Franks House is a place so important in history of the holocaust as we know it, that it really must be visited if in Amsterdam. That said I was kind of expecting to see the rooms set up as they would have been but the rooms are in fact completely empty so you have to work hard to imagine how crowded it would have been when full of furniture and people.

If taking young children beware that there are no seats and mainly empty rooms so there isnt a great amount for them to do.

For such a powerful and sad story so much more could have been made of the experience. Missed opportunity to tell the story of a very special lady. Missed chance to remind us of the tradgey that we must never forget. Lacking any real depth or substance not sure it was worth the money... Disappointed is my key phrase.

Definitely the best museum in Amsterdam. You can walk and be in real house of Anne Frank. If you visit Amsterdam, you have to go here. BUT now you have to order your tickets on website. You can't buy tickets there, just online!
