Owner description: All roads lead to Dam Square, the real heart of Amsterdam, where The Royal Palace, the Nieuwe Kerk and the War Memorial overlook this vast and bustling open space.

My partner enjoyed our time in Dam square. The weather was great, the atmosphere was great. We had lunch in the Majestic, watching the world go by.

You end up going to this square because Rioyal Palace, Madame Tussauds museum etc. are right there, but nothing special about the square itself, it has an ordinary looking "national monument." I think that Trafalgar square in London is more interesting then this.

Ok, if you're walking in Amsterdam, you'll cross Dam Square anyway. Take some pictures, enjoy a hot dog and it's enough.
In the summer, crowded, so as is most places, attention to your pocket (I saw some recommendations, but it seems pretty safe - I live in Brazil BTW...).

This is a nice square full of people and tourists. Lots of sidewalk restaurants. The Royal Palace sits on one end. There is a war monument statute. Amsterdam is a great city, but it’s not Paris or London. Worth a quick walk through.
